I had an urge to draw my bandersnatch again. The one that was shown before was actually a baby. Baby bandys are about the size of a small lap dog, but once they become adults they're about the size of a horse.
The mother is full grown and the baby is about the size of a meduim dog, which means he's a few years old. (they age about the same as humans)

As creepy as this moment looks, it's actually a very sweet moment. Mothers greet their babies and comfort them by giving a soft hiss, sticking out their tongue and "grinning" for the baby. This is one way they baby is comforted that they are safe and loved and it's how they can tell that it's their mother or another fellow bandersnatch. They respond with a 'kiss' by hissing like their mother and sticking out their own tongue, usually pressing it gently to the fur of their mother's face.

If you ever met a baby bandy, your best bet is to grin as wide as you can, or you could alarm it... an alarmed baby bandy means a large mother is soon to come.


Another note, when their mouth's are closed the mouth appears to be small. Bandersnatch have jaws similar to a snakes so that they can stretch their mouth's out, the skin is very flexible. The lower jaw like a snake's has seperated bones that can open up to make the lower jaw wider, which can be seen in the mother's lower jaw.
