Being the only daughter of the second richest rat in Ratropolis, Ferin DeRatry has a lot to be grateful for - yet she's been accused of being just the opposite. Ferin, however, begs to differ.
The funny thing about Ferin is that while she is aware of just how smart she is, and that she could very easily succeed if she did go into business (particularly her father's Midreo business, which is what she really wants to do), she has a fear of success. This comes from the fact that she's afraid of disappointing her father, who has taken it for granted that his Little Princess should be The Queen Socialite of Ratropolis, and not much more aside from a future wife and mother.
Ferin worships her father, and will do just about anything to please him - even if it means never putting her brains to the type of use they should be put to. But don't be too hard on Clint; he thinks Ferin is perfectly happy being a socialite, and if he had any inkling that she was dissatisfied, he'd move mountains to make things better. Ferin, unfortunately, does not realize this. So therefore she finds herself trapped in a gilded cage of sorts. Of course, there are worse cages to be put in
