Ok close to what I use! I use those "activity mats" that most people use to make the bottoms of fursuit sandals and they work quite well. You'd think they'd be really stick and wouldn't move much with the movement of the feet but it's not bad at all, very flexible. The kitchen mat looks like it works very well too
I just went by some ideas I had and used Matrice's foot tutorial as eyeball reference (although I still did mine differently, my toes come away from the shoe as opposed to being glued right on the toe). I could send you pics of the foam in progress if you want :3 It's pretty easy.

yes, there are LOTS of tutorials on fursuit-making. what's helpful is reading up on the 'fursuit' community lj. everybody kind of has their own technique, but depending on what you want to do there are lots of helpful guidelines available.
