Back-story: Annabelle is a southern belle born in the lap of luxury. She’s a shy and humble daddy’s girl who strongly loves and is loved by her family. She idolizes her older sister, but, unlike her sister, would much rather curl up in bed with a book than with a boy. She held her father’s special attention growing up and was given pretty much everything she could want. Belle’s father began the Anti-Furried Movement (AFM), which aimed to take away the human status of all Furries in the world. Her family became well known throughout the country as on the forefront of anti-Furry rights. Life was easy for her family. That all changed when their darling little Belle showed signs of the External Fur Disorder at fifteen; she found herself transformed into an anthropomorphic skunk-girl. In order to save face with other members of the AFM, Belle’s parents sent her away to boarding school and denied that she was afflicted. Her family still loves her a great deal, but only behind closed (and locked) doors.
Present Day Situation: Belle is studying accounting at Sael University, where her older sister attends as a junior. Her sister is quite popular and refuses to acknowledge Belle in the company of other normal humans. Her family’s name hangs over her, creating a barrier between her and the other Furries on campus, except, that is, for her roommate Ako Torrin (SAI: Tiger). Shy and reserved, and amidst a shroud of prejudice and anger from both normals and Furries alike, Belle has trouble making new friends, which makes her friendship with Ako all the more important to her.
Ako convinces Belle to join Phi Upsilon Rho, an all Furry sorority. With Ako’s help, Belle may yet be able to shatter her lonely barrier and make some new and extraordinary friends…
(This character, due to her deep, intriguing background, has become the personal favorite of one of my friends who is working closely with me on my comic).
