[There was once a trainer of great potential that caught a shadow early on. This shadow loved him, and he loved it too. Together, they fought and they trained, and they battled. The trainer's skill was unparalleled, he managed to defeat six gyms over the course of several weeks, and his collection of Pokemon flourished. And always, his shadow watched, evolved, and experienced for him a feeling as close to love as he could.
But then, it all changed. His trainer grew quickly tired of his journey, and as suddenly as they had started, their adventures together ceased. He sat down, and turned on the television, and his shadow watched. Days became weeks, and the shadow watched as his trainer sat and watched television. And he kept watching for a very long time.
One night, the sound of a window opening and closing resounded through the house, but the trainer did not respond. He called out to his shadow, but it was gone. He looked for him, briefly, but he could not be found. Then he gave up looking, and returned.
As the years became decades, he remembered everything. He reminisced about the old days, when he had meaning in his life, and all of that skill that he never did much with. The trainer thought often about what he could have been, and what he could have accomplished. He began to miss the shadow....
And then the shadow returned, the same way it had left. The window opened with a bang, and closed just as subtly, and the trainer greeted his shadow like an old friend.
"I remember you," he said with a smile which the shadow did not return.
"You had one life. Why did you waste it?"
"I do not know. Perhaps... maybe if you had come back...." The words drifted off as he felt strong hands on his shoulders, gently massaging him, coaxing the truth out of him. "I suppose you are right. I was young, and then I grew, and then I was old, but never in the right place."
'
"You had so much potential."
"I know.... I will not have a legacy now, I have lost that chance a long time ago...."
"You are wrong." The shadow walked around to the front of its old trainer, and stared him in the eyes. "I will be your legacy."
And at this, the trainer laughed, because he knew this was the end. "You would show me mercy while the lights were still on? Damascus, that isn't like you."
"Master.... Your lights have been off for a very long time...."]
And here's part three of the spoilerific spoiler series! I can't wait for tomorrow when I finally get to show off what the big bad himself looks like! I hope everyone's enjoyed the readings! And congratulations to everyone who guessed the species, at least, on the way here! And, let's make our legacies one to remember, shall we?
