I don't really have much saying that I'm in the navy, but I'm rather proud of it. So here's me. :D

So two questions I'm confused about with the navy.
Do you get called your Job-grade right off the bat, or are there a select areas you can join? Like 'Electrician Recruit?' LIke I'm guessing you wouldn't be 'Aerographer Recruit'...or would you?
And Is there a shorthand for your rate? Like I can't imagine calling out "Aerographer's Third Class Zeek" is easy to belt out (unless the superior is pissed off with you or it's a formal situation). Like how Lieutenant Commanders get to be called "Commander" and I'm guessing unless it's asked for Lieutenant J.Gs and Lieutenants are both just called "Lieutenant" by their superiors?

I'm AG3 When you start out you branch one of 4 ways e1 through 3 Seaman (sea going rates) Airman (Aviation rates) Fireman (electrical and engine rates) or Constructionman (The builders and infrastructure workers.) I was an Airman up until 2 months ago, but I was still an Aerographer's Mate. When we say the word Rate in the navy, it means the short hand which shows your job title and your paygrade all in one go. So I was an AGAN (Airman that has the job of Aeographer's Mate) Now that I'm a third class petty officer I am AG3 when I make 2nd I will be AG2 when I make it up to e7 I will be AGC or just chief :P
Under normal situations, I understand "Lieutenant Junior Grade John Smith" is usually just called "Lieutenant Smith" and is only called "Lieutenant Junior Grade Smith" if he is at a formal hearing, or his superior is really really angry at him.
You are Aerographer's Mate Third Class Zeek. When someone gives you an order or calls for you over the 1MC or otherwise addresses you, do they say "Aerographer's Mate Third Class Zeek" or do the use some sort of shorthand like "Aero-Third Zeek." Or "A3 Zeek"?
