2.2. 2005... not exactly my oldest ever, but the oldest I could find on the backup drive. She is my oldest character however, although thankfully very different in many ways currently... (yes that's Jane) well, there was one even before her, but I never drew him again for some reason, and can't find any drawing of him either... oh well.
Anyway, considering the nature of this meme, might as well tell about my drawing history: As far as I remember, it all started with me doodling some Star Trek ships with my father at the age of about 4 (1991) or so. I most likely did something before that, but couldn't remember anything prior to age of 4 even then. Anyway, those occasional doodlings continued until the start of school (age 7, 1994), at which point I turned over to doodling in notebooks during breaks(the school even distributed those notebooks with that intention!). This went on until about the 2nd or 3rd grade, when I made really good friends with a boy I knew from the day-care centre run by his parents. After that point I started spending more and more time with him, and less and less time drawing, more or less stopping completely. At this time I did get another friends as well, one who gave me my first glimpse at the SNES, and Metroid, and another who had Sega Master System, and a Sonic game in it, possibly the 3rd one. I immediately liked Tails more, since flying = awesome, and since Sonic couldn't fly he was significantly less awesome XD (I also thought Knuckles was a girl at that time...)
Things probably would've stayed that way too, unless we had moved at the beginning of the 6th grade (age 12, 1999). This move did have the unfortunate consequence of severing my contact with him, and I haven't regained that contact since... Well, this did make me slowly return into drawing things, and I did take every art class at school that I could, however it took until 2003 that I started drawing more seriously. You see, at about that time, I had gotten to know the game series Megaman X, and read a very good fancomic at Iragination (http://www.dzarchive.com/iragination/). That got me inspired to try drawing some Megaman characters myself... with less than stellar results. Since I was a bit disappointed at my drawing capability I didn't continue very long at that road, and eventually lost interest in the Megaman series.
Then, at around late-2003/early-2004 (I forget which) I got into the Sonic games for the second time in my life, and this time I actually played them myself, so I got far more into them... (I also found the site http://www.teamartail.com/) and tried doing some drawings of, well, Tails mostly. At first I did a couple drawings using reference, and they came out ok, I suppose... Anyway, the real spark that got me to draw a whole lot came in quite a strange form, as I came across a browser-based online kung-fu game (seriously) and it had the option to add custom avatars. And not just a single personal picture, but you could set the Victory, Lose and Draw-portraits as well!
And there I was, happily chugging along, doing silly little doodles of Tails for all of the portraits, and replacing them occasionally. And then the site broke. Oh well. Since I was drawing a lot more now, I thought about looking for an art site of some kind, and came across Deviantart at May 22 2004 (a week after my birthday, interestingly enough). I still wasn't very good at character drawings at that time, and was looking to get better at it, when I started reading the webcomic Final Sunrise(http://www.finalsunrise.net/, by S'Zero Alaris, AKA S0lar1x) in the summer, and in there were once a couple of character drawing tutorials, that really helped me get forward, and when I started reading Freefall(http://freefall.purrsia.com/) and Stolen Generation(by Kitfox Crimson, can't find it anymore though), which were both linked on FS, I got all the more inspired to try harder... and this drawing is from around that time, although before I nicked the way of drawing ears from someone I already forget, and it's all been downhill since then, as you can clearly see XD
Phew, that was long, well atleast now you know if you ever wanted to...

Oh noooooo, old fox drawings XD
However, first to say, if you have played Sonic 3, then it was no Master System, it was a Mega Drive :b Just side note XD
However, I've read it all, and it's quite interesting. But I remember you saying you don't like Tails... Sounds different here XD And if so, why? And was there anything besodes tails which inspired you to draw foxes all the time?

eh whatever, one SEGA or another, it wasn't mine anyway XD
hmm, strange, I don't remember saying that I don't like him... although I may have been a bit annoyed at him after getting my earliest character confused with him... that actually prompted me to try out S0l's Anthro tutorial back then ^^'
As for drawing foxes all the time... it's maybe because I've always liked them, even though I've only somewhat recently seen any fox-starred cartoon media for example XD So... I'm not entirely sure about that to be honest...
