The crystalline dragon flew westward as the night settled into pale lavender. The moon hung low in the sky its silvery light casting a faint glow over the land below. Ahead was a stone castle; the dragon had lain there for a number of years. It erupted from the mountainside hewn from the very stones of the earth. Humans had made it, and then abandoned it years later. But there were no years for the crystalline dragon, only moments that passed in ambiguity. The day had been a good one, the hunting had gone well and a fight with a roc had gotten the dragons blood pumping. Not a scratched marred the crystalline. Giant wings of soft blue glided and caught an updraft swifting the dragon to the stone castle. The light orange body drifted though a gaping hole in the back of the structure. Tonight there would be rest and warmth from the stones, tomorrow lay just on the horizon. But for the dragon there was a loneliness that came in the dark chill of night. Gone were the crystallines kin, long years had passed since dragons ruled the earth. But there was once harmony with nature, and dragons lived long days in the sun, each crystalline and beautiful. The solitary crystalline was all that was left of a legacy. These dragon kin were proud race, honourable and noble in their ways. The crystalline shed a single tear from a green eye and slept.
The morning dawned crisp and clear and a soft mewling awoke the crystalline. On the stone floor were the single tear had fallen two tiny twin baby dragons lay, both magnificent and perfect. The crystalline, was overwhelmed with joy and shed a thousand tears of joy. Each tear became a dragon and each dragon was beautiful. The crystalline, knowing that dragons would now again roam the world sent each baby into the world. Exhausted and at peace the crystalline laid down to sleep the last sleep. The first-born dragon twins returned and curled around the crystalline as it passed from this world to the next. From that moment on the stone castle became a sanctuary for all dragon kind, where dragons got their second chance, and where a single crystalline lay enshrined forever, the creator of a race, once again proud and noble.

Such a magnificent story for such a beautiful piece of artwork. The story is so sad yet just as hopeful in it's melancholy as it is saddening!
The mosaic that you created is absolutely lovely. Think the simple outline of the moon is such a beautiful accent to the Crystalline. Such a wonderful pose and a beautiful composition. A nice work of contrast and I bet this piece really shines in person. I would have never thought to used stained glass in such a unique way before! Great job!
