WTF! He doesn't have his mouth open!
Scales practice! And I actually like it! Bar the closed eyelid... which I left at "just good enough", so I didn't get too frustrated and give up... Next thing to practice: Eyelids!
I left the title as the file placeholder; didn't have anything creative spring to mind during the process.
Oh well; noms.

Pleased big guy looks pleased! :) I like the overall concept, although a very little flaw came apparent. The position of the tongue emphasises it, it's the tip of the nose. A little bit of the left side of his snout is visible, however assuming symmetry (duh) this shouldn't be possible. The tongue alone wouldn't be off, it could easily loll out slightly facing the right. I assumed the spikes growing out of his eyebrow, maybe they were intended to emerge from the middle of the skull (and by the perspective suggested by the lower jaw then they are about twice the visible length). Otherwise the handling of his black color, giving him shape by lighting, gloss is very well done!
I do see it if I look close enough. It's those sorts of things that I end up really obsessing over in order to get exactly right; even though I'm certainly no expert artist... I try to ignore discrepancies like that and focus on new techniques and exciting fun shinies and things... so with this piece; scales. XD
I'll admit I like the scales, even if they're somewhat unrealistic. But I definitely learned a lot from doing them so, "mission accomplished". Glossy black is definitely one of the hardest looks to achieve though.
