As many of you know, G1's Baby Rainfeather has become the Pony in which I have most aligned myself with. There are a number of reasons why.
1: CUTIE MARK
Rainfeather's "Cutie Mark" has come to aid me in coping with various situations in my life while realizing how I can turn almost any negative circumstance into a positive experience.
We all know the phrase, "Like water off a duck's back". This saying has become very true towards how I've learned to process hurtful statements in which have been directed to me by those who judge me by my limitations. I can't control what they say. However, like the proverbial saying of the duck, I can control if I let it get under my feathers. So I'm a lot stronger now that I know nobody can take away from who I am except for me.
So why the umbrella? The umbrella represents the "Support System" / "Natural Supports" I have in my life to ensure I am always able to keep negativity from overcoming my spirit of determination. It is also to illustrate how I do my best to make myself available to help others who may need someone to help them through the "Rainy Days" in their lives.
2: YOUTHFUL INNOCENCE:
It's amazing how growing up often comes with the price tag of realizing how hurtful our fellow man can be. It's very easy to feel as if what you do doesn't matter, nobody wants to be your friend, and that nobody cares about you.
However, when we were little, we were naive to these unfortunate aspects of our world. We were much more open-minded, encouraged, and our imaginations allowed to run as wild as we could let them. So the fact Rainfeather is a "Foal" represents how I try to hold onto that innocence so that I can put aside all in which has jaded me in order to improve my optimism towards life.
THE STORY OF RAINFEATHER:
The UK version of Rainfeather had a great story in which explains why Rainfeather is who she is. It goes as follows.
""Baby Pony, do you believe in magic?" asked a sad little duckling. "Of course I do," she replied. "Quack! Will you magic some rain to make me feel happy?" The baby pony asked the duckling to give her a blue feather, "When I hold the feather and whisper a magic word, it will rain!" she laughed. And it did! "I'll call you Baby Rainfeather!" chuckled the duckling. Now, Baby Rainfeather can make it rain whenever she likes... as long as she's holding her blue feather!

So that is why I am so glad to have sold off what I could to afford this commission back in October. Lil Moon takes time, but she's fantastic and worth the wait. She puts a lot of love into her craft. Her work is also very "Tactile", which means each part of her plush has a unique texture to feel with your sense of touch. This means she can be enjoyed as a collectible memory whether I have vision, or not.
I should get her before I go to surgery. If I do, I have a DUCKLETT that a friend gave me that I can't wait to try and pose her with to show a live example of her story. :)

It was certainly worth all I sold to get done. I try very hard to be responsible when it comes to things. Since Lil Moon's work is over $100 it isn't to be taken lightly. However, she's worth every cent for how genuinely talented she is in the art of plush.
Now I have earned a "Scootaloo", "Snowdrop", and "Rainfeather" from Ms. Moon. All will be with me if we are invited back to BronyCon to present one more time here in July. Each representing an important part of my journey to accepting myself and coping with own limitation. :)

If you don't already have someone to make a plush for some of your OC ponies, I'd highly recommend Lil Moon. I bet she could make a wonderful "Candy Cloud", "Bucky", or "Pint". :)
This was worth all I sold to have it made. Lil Moon takes her time and puts a lot of love into her work. This was commissioned in October and I'm so elated she'll make it before the surgery.
Oh! I am happy to say another part of our BronyCon efforts are working out. My wife helped me get all the videos done for what will be my part of the presentation. I'm going to be sharing them with you, the team, and our friends to see what they think. The quality is a little low, but its the message that counts. Plus, personally, your part means more to me in the overall since its fun and interactive. :)

Her "Youthful Innocence" is a mirror to why I am why I am. What helps physically personify my internal hope that "Everything's going to be okay" and how "I won't need my eyes to find my place in the world." It also illustrates how important it is to have an open-mind without allowing my jaded side to ruin what could be a prosperous future. :)
What's in her mouth is her magic duck feather. It is what the little duck in the story gives her to allow her to make the spell that causes it to rain. :)

Perhaps you can find someone to help you make one around here? I know Deviant Art has a lot of plush makers.
I'd highly recommend Lil Moon, but her quality works do come at a price. So I suppose it all comes down to budget along with the style in which you'd like to see TwoTone and Lucky in.

She most definitely did a splendid job with all of what makes Rainfeather such a special pony. She'll go well alongside "Scootaloo" and "Snowdrop". :)
If I get to commission another plush, I'd love to get one of Yosh. Yosh has been a big part of my life and my progress, but I've never thought on doing one up until now. I also would like to, one day, buy the exact clothing he wears so I can be all Yosh-like at a Con. :)
Have you ever gotten to cosplay before? It's kind of fun playing pretend. Gets you out of the day-to-day for a little bit while often encouraging others to say "Hi!" while asking about your character.

Ah! A Yosh plush would be the best. Definitely something that you should invest in aside from important, grown up, real life things.
I've never gotten to cosplay. Definitely something I want to try though! In a somewhat related story, I was thinking about joining a military historical reenactment troop. It's a tad expensive to get all the gear and I generally have other things and commitments that seem to draw my attention away or bar me from pursuing that interest. But it would be nice to have a 18-19th century uniform of some kind. I'd definitely go to cons in it, maybe even with some dragony accessories. Should make it easy for people to recognize me!

I could very easily see you doing well performing in war reenactments. I bet you'd have a lot of fun. Plus, as a teacher-to-be, I'm sure you could potentially have a lot of fun with your students during a Social Studies segment by dressing up to show the significance of why such uniforms were worn during pivotal events in our history.
Some interests are fleeting and not worth investment. HOWEVER, yours seems quite life-long in military style, tactics, and history. If you can, I'd highly advise making the investment to join the troop. I am more-than-certain it will bring you a lot of joy for many years. Not only that, you'd play a pivotal role in keeping history alive while being able to align it to your teaching efforts. How better to sell your students on why they should care than by showing how seriously you yourself take the lessons learned from how disputes were settled in the past? We wouldn't be where we are now without the technological developments that came from an ongoing need to outwit those who would do us harm. :)

Very true. I've considered the possible educational ramifications. I should probably join a Civil or Revolutionary War regiment. Interestingly, there are American English Civil War reenactors in my area. They mostly go to my state's renfairs. It kind of makes sense. Might be cheaper to join one of those since a pike is a lot cheaper to buy than a musket. Unless they wanted me to be a gunner I suppose.
It's all definitely worth a little research in your free time. Perhaps you can get in contact with someone from one of the reenactment troops to see what they may be looking for, how you can be a part of it, and if some of the materials you'd require could be purchased at a cheaper price from someone who may have left the troop, or could be looking to retire. :)
Definitely keep me posted. I know it would be a wonderful time for you to live out something you take a lot of joy from. Plus being able to reenact history would certainly be a great boost to your drive in being an Educator. :)

Thank you, my friend. She is definitely going to play a pivotal role if we are invited to present again at BronyCon.
She's also a great example of how fiction can make for such adaptation. I highly doubt Hasbro made her with the intention of what I'm using her and her Cutie Mark for. However, as a fictional character, she can be whatever I want her to be. :)
This is what also makes your works with Fallout - Equestria so nice. Some folks can be so uptight about "canon". However, fiction is pretend. So there is no harm in adding your own fiction to existing fiction to make something extra special that suits you and your respective interests. :)

How awesome! I'm glad your mom was kind enough to get you an adorable, inspirational Snowdrop. She's truly our only main character who not only has special needs, but shatters the stereotypes often associated with someone who has a limitation like hers.
I know I love my Snowdrop and proudly carry with me all over BronyCon. She's my buddy to let everyone know how "I don't need my eyes to find a place in the world". :)

Lil Moon is astounding when it comes to creating "Cutie Marks". The one she embroidered on my "Snowdrop" is so neat in how you can feel the stitching all about the flower she has. She also did an astounding job creating the CMC badge as a patch on the Crusaders Cape for my "Scootaloo".
As Rainfeather's cutie mark is more detailed than Snowdrop's, I imagine she made another patch and sewed it in. I'm expecting it to feel like the tummy symbols of the original, 1980s "Care Bears".
I'm glad you approve of Rainfeather. Your artistic eye is very awesome. Knowing you see the detail means that it is just as good as I believe it to be. *Snugs*
