I would like to introduce everyone to Crooked Mast and Wickerwire. Mast is a rough-and-tumblr rogue pirate ram that refuses to let go of what he was taught as a young sheep, and let his mother's scolding domineer his life -- and his boat -- for years on end. Ropeburn came into his life on the eve of his adulthood, and shook up his world forever. Disguised as a common ship wench with a hard-on for pirate types, Wickerwire lived all her life on the coast of Horseshoe Bay -- or so she told Crooked Mast. The truth was, Wickerwire was working in Baltimare to control the spread of sea-wide criminals, using her nautical past to worm her way into the good sides of pirates and bandits alike, then charming them straight into a trap for the Equestrian government to take care of. She was the only sheep on the task force, and she was good at what she did, which was why she was called in when Crooked Mast's number came up.

Mast's reputation had preceded him. Other pirates told tales of how he was extremely brutal, even for a pirate, and that he spent all of his days seeking a buried treasure that just didn't exist anymore. They spoke of how he was verging on psychotic with his beliefs, and how even the hardest criminals made it their duty to stay out of his way. But Mast was upsetting a great many folks on the shore, so Wickerwire was sent undercover, and the shenanigans began.
