I really liked this.
The ending was simultaneously happy and sad. Timothy got to be a 'coon, Kathryn found somebody who could accept her for what she was, and most importantly they each have each other. But in exchange, Timothy had to loose a large part of himself.
I guess the word I'm looking for is bittersweet.
