Some interesting revelations about Hannah the Shepherd
So I have come to really adore this kind hearted, gentle German Shepherd that came wandering onto the land where I was living.
Recently I discovered a tattoo on her belly that I had overlooked before. So she has had at least 3 homes.
During a surgery to remove a massive bladder stone, the vet discovered that she was spayed, and not only this, but her vaginal canal was unnaturally small, meaning she could not conceive or give birth. A woman paid me to have a GSD I owned at the time to impregnate her GSD, but she discovered that her own dog had a "Small vagina" and could not conceieve, much less give birth.
So Hannah has this, not that it matters. But perhaps her first owner bought her to breed, but then discovered it was impossible, and shut her out of their home.
The second revelation, which explains a LOT is the fact that her skull has quite a large impression, it is concave instead of convex. And significantly concave. A vet friend of mine felt it and said she may have been kicked by an ungulate when she was younger, causing her skull to become indented.
It would explain why she uh, walks into things some times, and exhibits signs of... well... Being "Special". She also sleeps on her head, which is just so odd. I used to get frustrated with her because I'd be carrying something heavy and she'd just... stand there... in my way... staring at me.
Another time she walked in front of my quad... clearly looking at it coming towards her, and I ran her over. I felt awful, but sure she wouldn't just step in front of the quad, which she did. (She was fine)
So she's kinda special. But her heart... is so loyal, so sweet, so loving. She is precious to me. Precious and irreplaceable. There isn't a single bitter, angry, or mean bone in her body. She is the picture of love and kindness.
The final revelation is that she does, in fact, have a microchip. However, it is not registered to anyone. It's blank. That makes me believe she was taken from a shelter (Adopted after being released from her first home) and they discovered she was... special... and that is when they dumped her in the desert whereupon I accepted her into my home.
Honestly she's my little girl. I love her so much. I originally only allowed her to live with me as a companion for my other rescue. But she is so sweet and loving I adore her.
When she hears my truck start, at my best friends house, she literally tore through his picket fence and took off after me. She doesn't want to be left, ever again. I once told the white wolf I would never leave him or forsake him... But I did. So I do not promise that any more, but so long as I am able, I will always be there for her.
I cannot stress enough how much a rescue dog or Shepherd will add joy to your life. If you have a chance, give a rescue dog a second chance.
Oh... And look at her smile :)

I worked at a Kennel for 6 years until this year, and I have to agree, rescues and strays are incredibly sweet animals. I know people say animals can't and don't "think" but whatever you want to believe... I know that they KNOW that you're taking them in and they're forever grateful for that.
If nobody's ever had the pleasure with dealing with rescues of any sort they really are missing out. Neither of my pooches are rescues, but the experiences I had with the animals at the kennel were plenty, as every dog that came there knew me and more or less came to understand and love me while their owners were on vacation.
I'm glad to hear she's finally found a home that cares about her, I've seen some pretty sad endings to stories such as this, but this seems pretty solid. I wish nothing but the absolute best for both of you! <3

Thank you! I know they can and do think. I've been around dogs and wolves too long to think that they operate on base instinct alone... There is so much more to them than just that in my opinion. And yes, for sure, both my rescues are SO grateful I took them in. The dote on me and show me love that stems from a gratitude for helping and saving them. I can't ever say anything bad about store bought or breeder bought dogs, but rescues just love on a different level, and are grateful for a second chance.
Thank you ;_; I do care for her. Every day I grow to love her a little more, and she bonds with me a little deeper. Hey, thank you for your well wishes, I, too, wish you the very best!!

I'm glad Hannah ended up with you. People can be quite cruel, which pisses me off... But at least she's happy now.
We have a rescue named Bosco, he's a boxer. He was abused before he ended up in a shelter. He would flinch and cower if anyone moved near him too quickly. But he's a happy and spoiled dog now. So loving even after all he's been through. Animals are amazing.
On behalf of Hannah, thank you for letting her in. I'm sure she is forever grateful for that.
We sometimes go to the nearby shelter just to see and spend time with all the rescues. If I see a nervous or frightened dog I'll sit right outside the kennel door and eventually they walk over for a treat. It's amazing to be able to have them trust you when you know that they've been through hell.
Anyway, hope Hannah has a wonderful and long life with you. :)

Thank you ;_; Yes, I know, she has every right to be a mean dog but she's so sweet and loving.
And that is so good of you! I am so happy you are working with the shy dogs to get them to be more sociable. Yes, when an animal gives you a chance even after being hurt, it is truly special, and wonderful, to be able to ease their fears, and show them true love instead of cruelty. Unfortunately many people just do not know this wonderful joy.
Thank you. :)

No problem.
And I sort of can't help it. It's like I gravitate to the shy and timid ones. I want so badly for them to know they're going to be okay and that not all people are mean. It breaks my heart to see so many abused and unwanted animals. They're precious and should be treated with kindness and love.
When we move I will be adopting a dog. Unfortunately Bosco is 9 years old and his health is declining. He doesn't like other dogs otherwise we would have another. But when the time comes, we'll definitely be visiting a shelter to adopt another rescue.
