I love that the thing Undyne likes about Alphys is that she CARES about stuff! She has interests and passions and gets excited or upset - things matter to her! And you’d feel great being someone she cares about.
It’s cliche seeing someone that cares about nothing, and seeing someone else want to be the one thing they care about in order to feel special. That type of person sounds gross, it’d feel better knowing that a good person cares about you - so you can enjoy the things you care about beyond each other.
It’s great seeing a badass character that knows that caring isn’t a bad thing.

Yay! I have my screen reader on and got to enjoy that wonderful post that went along with this image. I'm also super thankful for seeing your picture of Undyne since, to me, I have a super-hard time making her out beyond the little fins on the side of her head.
The bond between Undyne and Alphys is really cute. Alphys feels she has to live up to some standard and traps herself in lies to do it. However, Undyne doesn't like her for the pretend stuff Alphys has developed. Rather, she appreciates her dedication and devotion (As you mentioned)
It's very tempting to drop spoilers here, but I really liked learning more in Waterfall about these two. :)

Hehe oh Understandable! One thing with Undertale that's tricky is we only have two things to look at - super small sprites without a lot of detail, and the larger full-body poses limited to black and white - so things like her fins and face can all be hard to connect together. But eventually folks got it figured, and Alphys herself is pretty simple. :3
