Soooooo I decided Akela didn't get a lot of my interest and it just decreased further over the years, yet a lot of people kept asking me when they were going to see him again etc,...
So I decided to see what the problem was and I found it! Akela looked beyond boring. Not interesting at all.
So I set out to re-design him, and went through about, I dunno, 15 concepts before I finally settled on this one.
So here's Akela's new look!
Every few millenia, a Guardian sheds his or her old body and attains a new level of power, thus transforming into a more powerful version of their former self. Akela has had a few forms so far, with this one being the latest.
The reference sheet was meant to look like a page out of a very old book, with a random academic's notes scribbled across the page.
A little bit of background flair to go with the picture:
"I don't understand it. There have been tales of this... creature, god, whatever it may be, all throughout history. By Navras, I even have documents of cave paintings which seem to feature it! Yet there isn't a single soul in this world who can tell me what it looks like, how it behaves or if any living thing has ever come into contact with it! Is it all a hoax? A story for children? A remnant of a long-lost religion? Perhaps... but the evidence is too... coincidental. Even if this being is a fragment of fiction, why do I get the lingering feeling that all of these accounts, drawings, stories, legends and myths are somehow connected? Somehow... based on a grain of truth? I must research this further, but I fear I'm at my wit's end. Whoever this being might be... if it's even real... either it doesn't want to be found, or it's so powerful it doesn't need to... or both."
Also a thank you to
goldenphoenix101 and
Wuskle for giving me suggestions, tips and feedback on the designs/colours! :3
NOTE: Also yes, the line-art is based on the Bolt-picture I did, since it was only ever meant as a first look/concept, there will be pictures with completely unique line-art soon enough. :>
