I think it looks good, if you did continue to use that method. It's definitely more...oh, what would be the word...abstract? But with the linework it does contain it all, so, yeah. I like it.
Also yes, all that blubbery fatty flesh is great. :9 I wanna dive in. Heh. I love the shape of the head itself, really. Just from the back of the head and to those bulging neck rolls, it makes this great "this was what he used to be" starting point before you take in alllllll the rest of him. So lovely.
