I beleive you're all aware of my game (in the making, i'm proud to say) and I wanted to ask you all which style you'd most like to see it presented in
under each little hand-made, or ripped screnshot, I have put a letter, post the letter of the screenshotted style you like the most, and why you'd suggest I use that style.
I'd really appreciate it if everyone (especially all you lurkers) would put a hand in this. thanks
also my game is similar to castlevania in story.. or general story, whereas you're basically exploring a castle to slay it's master. just thou8ght I'd put it in there. ok, thanks to everyone that participates
and I'll see if I can't devise some sort of manual-like thing about it.. a pamphlet?

You should check out Phantasy Start IV...same type of character, but better graphics, and if I'm remembering correctly, she wears something like a thong and boots...you can se more of her.
Of course I was more interested in Chaz, now that I think of it...not that there was much to see.
I'm between that one and the Zelda style. Isometric has its advantages, too, but might be hard to implement...for exploring a castle, I kindof tend to like a top-down type view, and either on-screen/on-map combat, like Zelda, or else battles pop up, like the Phantasy Start style (E). I guess isometric could work, tho, since I think Landstalker was done that way (another Genesis game). So I guess I vote for that one. You can have a pretended 3-D environment, without really having to do so much.

Depends on how much graphics is going into the game. if you have the knowhow and plan on getting really complex then I'd say Star Ocean Style F. But if it's going to make it nice and simple I'd say Final Fantasy III style or Zelda style. There's a lot to be said for those old games. They're a hell of a lot of fun! ^_^
... Dang, I dunno. Depends on what the game's gonna be, I guess. Like, the castlevania and zelda choices are kind of their own genres ... but if you're going with a turn-based combat system, I'd probably choose FF3. I've never played Star Ocean, so I can't comment on it.
Hmm, try BoF IV and V. The one in IV has a decent combo system that came off rather nice. In V (Dragon Quarter), it's more of a management system, where you gauge how far you can move, and how much you can attack, then combo, based off of stamina points. Totally dug them both <3
It's a lot like 3's, but has a system where you can combo attacks together that fit. Like, a sword strike after another party member casts strength on the attacker, or a fire spell on the monster might chain into a double-strike or firestrike.
Also worked with Magick; usually on an elemental level. Fire chains into air, then into water, then into earth, then into Holy... So on. It was really well thought-out :)

Consider that Star Ocean and Tales of Destiny series both use an alteration of a whole ENGINE for battling.. If you want your characters to move around as much...
I don't like any of these, because the best one of "Exploring a castle" has already used the most-likely Zelda, Final fantasy, and Castlevania. :x
At best, Breath of Fire or Boktai? I dunno.

boktai's my personal choice, if you've ever played one of the 3 games (shin bokura no taiyoh, number 3, was only released in japan ;.;) but basicaly it plays similarly to zelda, but it's isometric, and you can use powers based on the amount of sunlight hitting the solar sensor (on the cartridge) with it you can enchant your weapons with elemental spells, and junk like that. it's pretty cool :3
also it's impossible to finish off the bosses without sunlight
search 'solar pile driver' if you wanna know more about that :3
