Another Bloodborne commish, this time for
jasonman or whatever name he's going by currently. Even though I'm working largely traditionally these days I keep finding all these neat things I can do whilst coloring that no other furry artists are doing. I mean, if you can put soft shading on top of flat colors that's all you need right???
Sadly it's what everyone's voted for.

Bone, I have to say that I think your heavy ink style works really well for this kind of illustration: just adds to the dark and menacing. I hope I'll be able to see a comic from you some day with a grittier story than False Start: I think your use of heavy inks with subtle shading mixed with heavy splotches of color would work really well in that.
I also think that you'd be a great illustrator for a Noir, now that I think about it.
Also, this reminds me that I need to play more Bloodborne. I've been slacking.

If I had more time "Deadworld" is the black and white horror comic that'd probably address that (maybe that illusive Patreon will afford me more time to do comics).
As for noir stuff: the guy who wrote and drew this book: http://www.amazon.com/How-Draw-Noir-Comics-Storytelling/dp/0823024067/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451833832&sr=8-1&keywords=how+to+draw+noir+comics kicked me up and down the curb in a portfolio review about five years back. That review really helped kicked my ass into shape.

I think I copied it from the actual "text" when drawing it but I don't think there's a translation. It's probably an inscription based on the teachings of the Healing Church. From the Bloodborne wiki:
"A "kirk" is an archaic British word meaning church, so the weapon literally is the Church hammer."
"A trick weapon typically used by Healing Church hunters. On the one side, an easily handled silver sword. On the other, a giant obtuse stone weapon, characterized by a blunt strike and extreme force of impact. The Church takes a heavy-handed, merciless stance toward the plague of beasts, an irony not lost upon the wielders of this most symbolic weapon."
