Another point about English idioms: we usually "come out of things"... and so Mister Scafandrola would most likely say, "He came out of this thing.... I've told Miss Samedi to get rid of it, ten thousand times!!!"

As for the term "design object," I'm not sure what the English equivalent would be. Art work? Piece of art? Decoration?

What is the term in Italian?

The italian term is 'Oggetto di Design', and is referred to those object that have an innovative and modern design, like the ones you see in those very expensive furniture shops, or even bigger things like cars, buildings etc. Famous design objects could be The Peking new stadium, the Vespa, Wright houses, Poltrona Frau Couches, etc.

Some of those things are effectively beautiful and innovative, while some are hideous and painfully expensive :P

I was sure you had this term in English, because i have run a search on google and found some reference. But maybe, the referrer were Italian too :D

As far as I can tell, in English, it's a computer-programming term. :)

Perhaps the closest equivalent in English would be "modern art piece," or "avant-garde artwork," or "masterpiece of modern sculpture."
