An art-trade story made for
Ry-U
In this story we will follow how his Polar Bear OC goes on a wild journey to retrieve something great to give to his family.
I got pretty much free hands here, and besides being told who the polar bear was Ry-U gave me complete freedom to create. (And that made me end up creating a whole family for him. )

P.S.
I had been planning to show how much more effective I would be this year by posting this on January 1, but thanks to Furaffinity glitching up that day I sadly have to post it now instead.
I can always try to make that happen next year instead. XD
The snow was laying soft as a lonely figure was seen wandering around in the winter climate as the sun was settling down.
It was an anthropomorphic Polar Bear male named Ry-U, who was on a very special journey.
His family back at home where in need of something to make their life at home a little easier, and being the good family father that he was he had promised to "Go out and come back with something that was going to be able to get used in many different situations, and not come back until he has found it!"
It had now been 2 days since he left (With almost a third one being done as the sun was setting.) and he had been over both mountains, lakes and even hot springs so far. But he was still not feeling that he had made the wrong decision to leave his home, as he knew he was going to find something to return to his family.
Looking around where he was he saw nothing but snow-covered trees and rocks, and not even a lonely acorn could be seen.
Just when Ry-U felt that maybe he sadly would have to turn back home empty handed, something suddenly lighten up the nightly sky!
Looking up to see what it was he saw a new born star glimmering and shining for what felt like only him. It almost felt like a sign that his goal on this journey was just in reach for him, and all he needed to do was to reach out a bit more.
Almost feeling like it was a wishing star Ry-U looked up at it and said "I do wish that I could take you down and give you to my family.", and to his surprise the star started to move from it place, and it looked like it was getting...closer!
Running away and dodging in the snow Ry-U could hear how a loud crash happen just 10 feet away from him, and when looking up he couldn't believe what he saw.
Sitting in the snow was the star from the sky, still looking as beautiful as when he first saw it!
Ry-U walked over and picked it up, and as he looked at it he said "I think I have found this perfect thing to bring back home."
While the dark days and the icy cold still was the same, Ry-U felt a lot more "warmer" and "enlighten" then he had done before reaching his mid-point in the journey.
No matter if he had to swim in ice-cold lakes, walk for hours in unforgiving blizzards, or climb tall mountain wall with only his claws for support, nothing made him ever stop moving or even stop himself from smiling.
And it was all thanks to the star that worked both as a guild-light for him, and also worked as a symbol for Hope, Heart, and Determination!
"This thing is all I could ever wish to find, and more!" Ry-U thought as his alerted ears suddenly picked up something that made him stop walking!
Looking around the big, bulky Polar Bear made himself ready for any type of creatures that could be hiding in the surroundings and making themselves ready to strike!
He was just about to try and continue walking when out of the foggy snow storm jumped out three wolves! (And despite them all being anthros just like him, they preferred walking around on all four when for travelling...and for attacking!)
Still standing on his hind legs Ry-U knew that he could still try to scare of the wolfs by looking really large, and he asked them in a very demanding tone "What do you want?!"
"We where just looking for some prey to hunt and eat on, but then we saw you where carrying something...Shiny" one of the wolves said. (Which Ry-U took as it was the leader of the group.)
Ry-U really was hoping that he could get out of this without having to fight as the wolfs had him cornered against a high cliff, and he didn't feel like having one more swim trip for today.
"If you are after the star then you can't have it! I have spent days out here doing nothing but looking for something to bring back to my family, and this thing is just what I have been searching!" Ry-U said, and he even gave a hard stomp with one of his paws to try and make the wolfs start running away.
But instead of looking scared a small glimmer could be said in the leader wolf's eyes (Being a reflection of the star Ry-U was holding.), and said "If you are not going to give it up then we will just have to take it from you with force!" before he and his two friends started jumping towards the family father bear!
It wasn't the easiest thing to try and keep the star safe is his one hand, while trying to defend three aggressive wolfs!
Still he wasn't given the wolfs any easy match, as he still had his other hand, his two feet, and the rest of his body to fight them off with!
With punches, kicks, hip bumps, head butts and much more Ry-U managed to work pretty well as a one bear army against the smaller group of wolfs, but not even his determination to bring the gift home to his family could help him forever.
He could look at all the three wolfs at the same time, and when he looked away from one of them for just one second that wolf jumped up and pounded him!
The impact made the star fall out of his grip, and all four of them witness how it flied over the edge of the cliff and down into the sea!
"Well...looks like that thing is lost forever." The wolf leader said, before ordering his two minions to follow him as they all left Ry-U by himself.
Ry-U was first completely shattered by the fact that his special gift had just disappeared from him, but then he looked down and could still see a weak light from the very dark water!
Not giving up while he still had a chance to retrieve it Ry-U took a deep breath before running forward and taking a high dive into the sea!
Once underwater he knew that he (Thanks to being a Polar Bear) while being able to hold his breath for up to 10 minutes, wouldn't be worth anything if he lost the sight of the shiny light!
Looking down he could see it slowly sinking down towards the bottom, and he wanted to try get it before the air-pressure would be to much for him.
But that would soon not be the biggest problem for him as it all got extra dark for a second, and looking up he could see something HUGE swimming just over him.
When the creature swim down to be in face level with him Ry-U saw that it was a big Walrus! (And a feral one too!)
This was the most shocking thing that Ry-U had ever seen as he thought "I thought that there didn't existed any non-anthro creatures like that anymore!", as he then notices how the Walrus was (just like the wolves earlier) getting the attention of the star!
"Oh no you don't!" Ry-U thought as he dived down to avoid letting that big beast get it!
The walrus was just about to try and eat the star when Ry-U sent a fist into the side of his head, making him miss it as the star sunk to the bottom floor. (That was only about 5-6 feet from where they were floating.)
This really made the walrus upset as it now only had as a goal to get his revenge on the polar bear that dares attacking him!
Ry-U realized first now that trying to fight something more then twice his size probably wasn't his best move, so he tried first now to swim away and think out a better plan.
But it was to late to try and escape as the massive Walrus swam over him before suddenly doing a big dive and press it's massive body over Ry-U, as he was getting smooched over the sandy ocean floor!
All he could do was to try and play dead to hopefully make it stop, and after 15 seconds of no response at all to his abuse the walrus grow tired at him and focused instead on the star.
As it swam closer and closer the walrus tried once again to eat the thing, but just as he was closing in with his big mouth the star let out a big shine that temporarily blinded it!
All Ry-U noticed as he was still laying down was a sudden glow from the corner of his eye, and how the massive Walrus was swimming away in fear from the star.
Seeing that the star was still intact made him happy, but also feeling that his air was soon running out made him panic a little bit!
So he quickly grabbed the star and headed back up towards the surface, where he then took a deep breath and then got himself back up on dry land.
At this point he had hoped to feel better, but the combination of wet fur and strong snow winds made him freeze more then he had ever done before in his life!
Trying to warm himself up by hugging himself Ry-U hold the star very close to his body, and while he didn't see it the star was starting to glow a little bit again.
All of the sudden he could feel how he wasn't freezing at all anymore, and when scratching one of his paws over his fur he noticed that it was as dry as it was before he had jumped into the water!
Wondering first how this even happen he saw the star giving out a beautiful orange glow, and he could pretty easy put 2 and 2 together.
"Did you do this to me, little buddy?" Ry-U asked the little star, before smiling and saying "You are only getting more and more amazing all the time!"
From this point the journey home was a breeze for Ry-U, and he even managed to be back home a whole day quick then first planned.
Their home was pretty unique in that it first looked like a regular front door and windows on one wall, but rest of the home was actually protected inside of the side of a mountain! (Making it a very safe and compact home to be in.)
Opening the door Ry-U could see how everyone in the family stopped with what they where doing, and came to meet their father and husband again.
There was his lovely wife Elisabeth, who unlike him was a bit more "round and bear shaped" then he very muscular looking husband.
His teenage daughter Rache, who was the only one in the family to have tattoos on her body. (And a very typical "Teenage Rebellious" attitude to go with it.)
His big boy Jordan, that was the biggest one in the family. (And very fond of his mother's cooking.)
And finally his youngest daughter Rosie, that was still so young that she was getting carried to her dad by her mother.
"Ry-U! You are back." Elisabeth said, as she gave him a kiss on the lips and the kids all came to hug their dad.
"Did you find anything cool on your journey?" Jordan asked.
"Oh, I've got something to show you all." Ry-U said, and placed the star on the kitchen table for them all to see.
"Wow!" Was the reaction everyone said.
"What is that even?" Rache asked, to which little 3 year old Rosie said "S-Star!"
"That's right my little sweetie. It is a real star from the sky." Ry-U said, making his family all the more amazed.
"How did you even manage to get something like this?" Elisabeth asked, to which Ry-U had to blush a little bit and just say "It came to me when I wished for it." (It was a very corny thing to say, but that was the most honest way for him to say it.)
"So what can a star do?" Jordan asked.
"It can do many things." Ry-U explained. "During my journey it had both worked as a Flashlight, to scare of dangerous creatures, and even warming my own body when I was feeling really cold. But that's not all! It's not just what it can do physically, but also what it represents. Having this star in our home is a symbol for us to feel Hope, Safety, and most importantly Unity to always stick together and be there for each other when anyone of us are in need of help. That's what the Star stand for."
"I have to say this to you dad. That speech did impress me." Rache said, and Ry-U blushed a little over hearing that even his teenage daughter though that her old dad was "cool" for a moment.
"It is really the most amazing thing you have brought to us, and it make me so happy to know that I got such a carrying and kind hearted bear as my man." Elisabeth said and gave Ry-U another kiss.
"I'll do anything for a family like this." Ry-U said, and gave the whole family a big group hug as they all enjoyed the shine and warmness from the star.
