Although to have a white coat is seen as a great misfortune in mountain gnoll society this is because it is an affront to the moon goddess that they hold sacred-for white is the colour of the goddess. Only priestesses of this goddess may wear white clothing or armour. Of these priestesses the greatest and most cunning warrior will be given the title of 'The White Wolf'. A holy warrior and amongst the greatest fighters in the tribe, the white wolf is the hand of the chieftain-a queen to his king (in chess terminology ;)).
