I don't usually smile too often, let alone for pictures Ben and Joanne insist on taking ever year around the holidays. I guess I just never had good enough reason too. This year was a bit different. Not only had my baby brother taken a liking to me, but my sole reason for living was with me this year. I'd never been happier to smile for a picture than with Jesse standing beside me.
Kenny has quite a few of his own mental issues. Some in particular have made it really difficult for him to form attachments with other people, including his adoptive parents. Jesse and Laryn sort of break through that barrier, and are some of the few people that no matter what, he wants to see happy.
