(Helps if I reply to the right post...)
They've been out on the market for a little over a year now, so not exactly new. That's an Acer Aspire One...great little machines...looks like an old-school Fisher Price toy that runs either Windows XP or Linux. Same kinda computer as the EeeePC, just a little netbook.
Chaser/Mintz there had his first...I had to get one quickly after. Definitely don't regret it....especially after 6 hours of battery life.

It looks nice actually. I don't think I'd mind having a computer like that. Though truthfully, I like how my computer is now. It has a S-video hookup, which allows me to hook up to the TV (portable DVD player or playing games on a big-screen XD)... unfortunately, the laptop has many drawbacks. like having maybe a hour or two battery, and no way to install any other Operating System (I don't like Windows Vista >_>). I would love to have a 6 hour battery
Does it have a graphics card (for 3D stuff)?

*nodnods* It all depends on what your main purpose for the laptop is. Processor-wise, its not bad. Its a hyperthreaded (Dualcore....almost) 1.6ghz Intel Atom...with a gb of ram. The graphics adapter is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, although, honestly, I haven't tried gaming on it. Its kinda hard to game on a 8.9" screen, hehe...especially when I have my desktop. So, honestly, I don't know how well it would do..haven't tried it out at all for that.
For a portable computer, though...if you're surfing the web, watching movies, or just generally messing around, its great. I already said that the battery life is phenominal, hehe. I actually had to put it on the charger a little while ago...it lasted from 5:15p until 12:35a est, hehe.
That's my main purpose for it. I use it to dump photos on when I'm shooting away-from-the-house, and hop online to check email / surf the net. Although, more and more...I find myself using that as my primary laptop. x.x;;
Oh...did I mention that they're only $400, fully loaded?
Yeah, that's a selling point.
And...it fits in my jacket pocket.

Actually, it sounds better than my computer, and mine is twice the size. HP slapped its buyers in the face when they gave out this computer, only giving us 1 gig of ram (Vista+1gig of ram=not good), and put it together while they were drunk (The front says "DV6500", the systems in the computer says "DV6000", and the bottom of the computer says "DV6609wm"... not to mention that the computer still thinks I have a built-in Web-cam... and I don't >_>).
Sounds like a great computer actually, but I guess you would be right about the monitor size when playing games. Still, I was playing Bionic Commando: Rearmed in 320x240 resolution, so for that instance it wouldn't be so bad -lol-
And thanks for answering my questions. Sorry about that, I get a little curious when it comes to machines and such.

Hey, not a problem at all. I asked the same before I got mine, trust me on that. That was, until I got my hands on one I could use. Then I was definitely all for it. Hehe. But, yeah...look into 'em. Small screen, big package in a laptop!
And...HP. Don't get me started. HP dv8000? Recalled Battery? Screen that randomly starts fritzing out and developing lines down the middle of the nice 17" wide screen? Yeah. That's mine. Don't even want to -try- to install Vista. Hehe. I love the thing, but no. It can stay and look pretty. As long as the screen is closed. *^^*~
Oh...and the Aspire...runs at 1024x600 resolution. It'd definitely run...and the screen is definitely high quality. I wouldn't try running Spore or Crysis on it, though...the lil' thing would try to as'prode.

Oh? Your HP monitor did the same thing as mine does currently. I thought it was because of bad drivers of mine, cause that would happen whenever I upgraded the nVidia Display Drivers.. though it did happen once with the default ones. Now I know that it isn't my fault for upgrading. I don't think HP would do anything about it... unless it involved a lot of money.
I'm so disappointed with HP anymore. I used to have a small Dell laptop after that, and it was really nice. I was hoping to get another Dell, but HP was the best option at the money that we had to use. It is still the best computer I had ever owned though, but I am displeased with HP and how sticky they are on their product (This laptop has Vista on it, and HP put up walls so you couldn't install XP or some other OS... they want you to stay with Vista, and unless you are good with computers, that ain't changing anytime soon... though I'm going to try my hardest to get XP on here.)
I plan on buying a more powerful laptop one day, but I'm going to make damn sure it isn't a HP. I would love a Dell, or maybe even a Acer.

Yeah. I don't want to generalize on the brand due to a couple bad experiences...but, yeah. I doubt I'd buy another one again, after mine's kinda gone south a lil'. Its still usable, but...its just annoying.
As far as the video/monitor issue...its a single-pixel wide line going vertically down the screen in two different places. Seems to me like its the screen itself...like I have a pin connector out. *shrugs* Although...I do have to say, once the monitor was color-balanced..its an amazingly gorgeous display. Just...wow.
Personally...after using my 'lil Acer Aspire One, though...I'd definitely consider getting a full-size Acer. They build 'em well...at least from what I've seen.

Oh, now I see what you mean. Sorry about that. We're talking about two different problems >_>. The problem I was talking about was the screen going all hay-wire on me, with all sorts of lines all through it and such... screwing up the screen as if the signal was going bad and such. It eventually stops and breaks down into a blue screen.
There's more to the story about why I'd rather not get another HP. When mine broke down about 6 months ago, HP had terrible service trying to help me. Their customer service is the worst...

I don't dispute that for one minute, as a matter of fact the battery on my laptop does last as long as that. But I guess I need something alot more powerful, of course a netbook is ideal for people who don't need it for much, but for me a netbook just wasn't adequete enough, I would get one... money is an issue though just now lol.
