Here is some additional lore on the animation, this time going into detail about the sub-group of the Soldiens: The Hurtken; describing in detail the race that Sev and Arc (and other background characters) belong to.

The Hurtken are meant to be kinda far flung colonists who were cut off due to unpredictable circumstances and had to build a new society on their own; later they become colonized by the Volterrans and recolonized by the Soldiens much to their dismay.

The Hurtkens are kinda meant to represent cultures that started out as colonies, and in my mind their kinda a blend of several different "new world" nations; their definitely going to be one of the catalysts of a lot of different events between the Soldiens/Volterrans while kinda struggling to define themselves as a separate, distinct group.
