I was watching an episode of Squidbillies.

You know how most people can't comprehend what goes on in the mind of suicidal people?
I can't comprehend what goes on in the mind of that show's creators.

But Hell, I think Hillbillies are funny. I think they might actually be in my own genetic ancestry.
So I just wanted a Country bumpkin character, dull as dirt.
His name comes from the Oldest Homebrew in existence, also called "White Lightning".

Incidentally, while Bernard favors a weird blend of Savate and Tae Kwon Doe,
Moonshine favors "Jack Dempsey" styles of fighting. He and Bernard are unnaturally alike.
