Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the hotel
many creatures were packing. Shut down for Noel?
There had been a slight mishap, and damage been dealt
Many repercussions sure would be felt

Ruthie stood by a window and watched the staff leave
Management's decision, she almost couldn't believe
The workers confirmed the management's fears
No work could be started 'till after New Year's

The guests had all left and refunds had been given
There really wasn't any other decision
The staff were quite happy with that situation
They had been given an impromptu vacation

By the drawing of lots, Ruthie had been selected to stay
To watch over the place, starting next day
So guests and staff left, on their way home
Leaving the poor hen all alone

She wanted to complain, but instead decided to sigh
And weakly just wave goodbye
At last year's party, she was kind of grumpy
Her friends all had fun, but she just wanted to sit and be comfy

This year she got her wish, to much regret
She'd be left alone....best holiday yet?
That was a lie, she wouldn't even pretend
now all she wanted was to stay with a friend
