At last! My first original piece of 'furry art' for "Fur Affinity" in months!...
And this one is my way of saying "thank you" to Captain Furry, for allowing me to post some of his colored pencil art in "FA" recently.
As many of you know, the next big Disney/Pixar feature film release will be "Up" (in theatres this coming May). It's the story of an elderly balloon vendor who missed out on a lot in life, and decides to go on one final adventure. So, he manages to tie thousands of helium-filled balloons to his little two-story dwelling, which (somehow) gets off the ground and sends him (and an unexpected eight-year-old stowaway) to South America! (Those who had attended a recent 45-minute program - viewing excerpts from "Up" - were moved to tears by some of the 'flashback' segments with the old man and his wife.)
Needless to say, I couldn't pass up an opportunity like THIS to poke fun at this upcoming CGI motion picture. So, my sketch has Captain Furry watching the trailer to "Up" on his laptop computer. Rob Cat offers an opinion about the Captain's emotional reaction to said trailer, thinking that he got sad about the little old man. But the lion was saddened for a completely different reason, as his 'thought balloons' explain - both verbally and visually...
(I hope to add color to this gag, later in 2009.)
If you'd like more data on Disney/Pixar's "Up" (which also features a rather pudgy pooch [that talks!] named 'Dug'), go to disney.go.com/disneypictures/up/

My original intention was to have your character inflate a whole bunch of characters - in order to raise that two-story house - but I just didn't have the time to draw so many 'furries' in one scene; so, I'd opted to have my own 'fursona' grotesquely overinflated to the same size as all those collected toy balloons in the movie...
