I admire anybody who can draw bat wings correctly, because they are a bitch and a half to draw. I wanted to try sketching a bat with wings extending from the shoulder blades, rather than being part of the arms themselves. I like flying and gliding mammals, but with anthros, they'd have to be naked all the time to allow for proper movement of arms and legs. I've seen others modify bats like this, so I tried it myself, with less than spectacular results. I wanted one wing to be open and one wing to be folded, but trying to draw that was even worse than the open wing. Some pictures that I looked up online also made it hard to tell if bats have both a radius and an ulna, and if they have four or five phalanges (is that the right word?) in their wings. I was also rather bothered by the amount of pictures I found of hands holding a bat's wings open. I'm sure the bats weren't hurt, but bat wings are such delicate looking structures that I wondered if this hurt the poor little batty-bats.
