In the event that both Nuclear Pulse Propulsion engines fail, the Ion Drive backup engine fails and the liquid fuel backup engine fails, these vessels are equipped with 19 solar sails for emergency propulsion. They are also deployed at ceremonial events. In the event of Solar Sail failure, whoever is taking such poor care of the ship's propulsion systems deserves the impending death associated with it.
