Reminds me of some of  hibbary's dragons. Excellent stuff. The mix of plating and bare white areas is interesting - are the white areas also scaly, or what ?

I would say more snakeskin than actual hard scales. I'm not a big fan of traditional art of dragons where every little scale is drawn out. It -could- be done well, but usually looks weird, so I prefer this kind of approach.

I figured it was something like that - that the actual scales are smaller than the "resolution" of the picture.

I use strathmore brand bristol. Wish I could get illustration board but I can never find it around here.

You'd may love some of my dragons. I've been wanting to do the father of my 5 sibling dragons and their mother (his wife) The armor of his is a great inspiration. His color scheme would be white skin with other parts being black and gold (and I do mean gold, not yellow).

Black and gold is a color scheme I adore, should look pretty good with those! :)

The yellow, black and white looked so good on her that I had to do the father/husband in those colors. I just gotta find the time to do it.

Och.. I don't say about colours etc. I just said for me is is more than "little" similar. I have little similar in my gallery, for now without col. (when I wanted to draw her chara a bit more real, than she draws her chara in some past). I had fully on the thought also such general-aliens-o (firt think- movie "Aliens") devised scurf on foot and paws - just similar to that film.
