Author’s Note: Ok so this is the first time I’m doing a story like this. I mean I’ve written stories before but not ones that I’ve shared with others or about furries so if there is something you feel is not right please let me know. This is going to have some m/m so if you're not into that read at your own discretion. Other than that I hope you enjoy. (p.s. These are all my OCs but there aren’t that many because I want to keep it simple.)
It was a cold winter evening as I sat with my college friend Tyrone and his lizard boyfriend Rick. I started to feel chills as the sun began to set in the L.A. horizon.
I was a little surprised Rick didn’t feel it first considering he had colder blood that most, even if he was cuddling against Tyrone’s lion fur.
“Ok” Rick said breaking the silence “ I’m cold now, let’s go back inside.”
Really? now you're cold! I thought but I wanted to go in also so I said nothing
“Oh come on,” Tyrone said “Just a little longer, I like looking at the night sky from the roof. It’s the only place that isn’t as noisy as the lobby downstairs, especially on Christmas eve.”
He was right, even from our apartment on the fifth floor you could hear Christmas carols being sang and stupid bells.
“One more second out here and you're not getting that gift I promised” Rick said with a wink.
“Really , don’t be like that”. It was too late it seems as Rick got up from his lawn chair and headed for the stairs. He held the door open to the stairs waiting for us.
“Damn it” Tyrone said under his breath and got up too. “ you coming to dog” he teased
“How many times do I have to tell you” I said “I’m a wolf not a dog”
What a jerk, he knew it was annoying when he called me dog but he did it anyway, he came up with it when we were in middle school together and it seemed to stick no matter how much I protested.
Even so I followed. The heater was on high in the building so I took off my jacket yet Rick kept his on. Tyrone had only been wearing a shirt because even in the coldest of times he liked to show his muscles. He was no bodybuilder but he was the athletic type like Rick.
What an ego, but then again I never met a lion who didn’t look in the mirror longer than most others did.
As we descended the stairs Rick began to cuddle with his boyfriend again. Tyrone put his arm around him.
“You're still not getting non.” Rick teased. Tyrone just giggled, knowing them and that it was a holiday tomorrow, that statement wouldn’t last long.
Tyrone seem to notice me staring. “So Jake,” he said “When are you going to get yourself one of these.” he said. He faced Rick and gave him a quick lick on the nose, he meant boyfriend. Rick didn’t seem to mind tho.
“Well to be honest I was going to hold off on that” I replied.
“Oh come on” He replied “Christmas is tomorrow and then the New Year is right around the corner and I know you’ve been putting it off.”
“And what's’ it to you?” I said
“Hey I just want to make sure my dog-
“wolf”
“-is not lonely on Christmas day. Speaking of which” oh no I thought “ You still haven’t told me what you wanted for Christmas yet”
“ I already told you I don’t want anything, bad enough all mom and dad ever got me was clothes, I don’t need anything honest”
“It’s not about getting what you need it’s about getting what you want, besides it looks alot like you need a guy in your life.”
“He could always hook up with Chad” Rick said entering the conversation. “I hear he’s been single for a while, you two could hit it off.”
Who was Chad?
“OMG yes” Tyrone added “He’s nice, so you’ll definitely get along and he’s kinda ripped just the way you like them” He winked at me.
I could feel my face going red as he said that.
“Hey” Rick said.
“Don’t worry” Tyrone said, “he’s got nothing on you” He then squeezed Rick closer.
“Who’s Chad?” I asked.
Tyrone then took out his phone and began texting. “No one in particular”
We had soon gotten down the stairs to our floor. Tyrone and me lived right across the hall from each other, Rick had become his roommate a couple of weeks ago yet I preferred my own private living space.
“So you coming down to the cafe?” Tyrone asked.
I kinda didn’t want to, in fact i just wanted to go to bed early but Tyrone looked like he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. “ya sure” I said “let me just put my jacket away”
“Sure, see you there then” Tyrone then led Rick back to the stairs.
Our landlord had always wanted a cafe so when she realized she wasn’t earning enough just renting apartments, she decided to make her dream come true and turn the first floor into a lobby/cafe. It became very popular when she added free wifi, nerds and business people with computers and phones started swarming the lobby. As they say “build it and they will come”. Even tho I never understood how she managed a cafe as well as an apartment building on her own.
I was glad that Tyrone was trying to help me find someone but the thing is the type of guys I was into were hot studs but I could never get myself to talk to them. I tried to a couple time and all I could do was stutter so after a couple of tries I decided I wouldn’t relive those embarrassing moments. Tyrone knew this yet he still tried to set me up every once in awhile.
The only reason I could talk to Tyrone and Rick is because I knew Tyrone before he was hot. I don’t remember how we met yet we seem to click together and became friends instantly. We were both picked on in middle school, even tho I could tolerate it Tyrone couldn’t, he began working out and by our freshman year of high school he had become the hot stud that he is today yet I had never felt as motivated as him to do the same.
In high school he had become really popular but he always made sure he stayed close to his roots. If a bully ever came around to pick on me he’d be there to shoo them away.
I discovered in High school that Tyrone was gay when we were talking one day and the subject had come to dreams and he told me, “If I had to think of something I’d really want to do then I’d have a four way”
I replied “How are you going to get three girls to do it at the same time?”
“Three guys” he corrected.
I had always felt like I owed Tyrone for making life in high school less stressful so I had said that if he couldn’t find a third then i would fill in.
After that Tyrone seemed to know I was gay too but he never made a move. I guess I was friend zoned but that didn’t bother me, Tyrone was more of a friend to me than anything so we had seemed to come to a mutual agreement. Even so every once in awhile he would remind me of what I promised him.
I put my coat away and got in front of the mirror I had on one of the walls.
An ordinary looking gray and white wolf with light blue eyes looked back at me, I had on navy blue jeans, a light gray polo shirt, I was 5.9in. high. I flexed my arm in the mirror, I wasn’t skinny but I knew I had to work out, but even though I wanted to, I never felt like doing it. Not to mention it would feel really awkward going to the gym with all the other guys walking around. I put my arm down, guess i’ll just have to be like this a little longer.
With nothing else holding me back I left and went downstairs.
