So...I browsed some Asgore fan art and I ended up getting hooked on Undertale. I haven't played the game but I regrettably read most of the Undertale Wiki. My God, I didn't expect an indie-game would leave such a FEEL-ful impact on me. This previous week I couldn't stop browsing Undertale fan art. I would stay up all night browsing! O_O
Asgore was the reason why I got interested in the fandom,(because he's practically bara) but Sans is quickly becoming my favorite. I mean, despite him being a slacker, he's a good brother, funny guy("COMIC" Sans) and an epic boss to fight with. (Although, I would never do the Genocide path)
I think I'll draw him next~♥!^^

Actually, it was never implied to be canon. I believe 2 Tweets that Toby posted touched on this matter: 1. When asked about how a relationship with a skelebro would work, I believe he said That Papyrus doesn't understand those kind of things and Sans is just to lazy. XD 2. Another rather funny thing was that he's seen Sans ships and said his OTP was Sans with his self. (he could be joking but I have a tendency to think anything the creator says is canon).
Don't get me wrong, if you like that Ship. I won't judge you. I was just trying to help out in understanding the world's characters a little more.
Although I don't really see why people ship them to be honest. All's they ever did was talk through a door on a daily basis and tell crappy jokes. Plus doesn't Sans seem a little, um.....Lazy for Toriel's taste? Plus, she IS immortal and we don't know how many years Sans has left on this world or if HE's immortal for that matter. They just seem like friends at most in my opinion.

Knowing Toby's sense of humor, especially in the context of being involved in the Homestuck fandom for years, I can safely say you can dismiss those tweets as jokes.
Their shipping is canon insomuch as they have romantic tension and Toriel is 100% not going back to Asgore, and Alphys ships it and is a stand-in for fandom.
And, y'know, the whole thing about telling jokes without being able to meet until the end of the game is allegory for online relationships. Sans also isn't lazy, he's got depression.
Also, the immortality of who Toriel dates doesn't matter; people outlive their partners all the time, and as Toriel/Asgore demonstrates, it's okay for a relationship not to last forever.

Sans also isn't a nihilist. He struggles with fatalistic thinking. Honest Game Trailers was wrong about that, but that term gets thrown around a lot anyway. Also, Papyrus is an egoist, not a narcissist. If he was a narcissist, whether grandiose or vulnerable, then he wouldn't be so eager to lift others up.
I always got the impression Alphys was Toby's caricature of "us." >w<

I made similar mistake as well; watched youtube gameplay of the game and read about it on the Wiki. I still bought it and it still gave me the feels, though I still really wish I had not already known about the game.
Anyways, this be an amazing fan art of the game. Lot of the fans are making fan art like that, about somehow bringing Asriel back (usually that Frisk willingly gives up their soul for him). But yours is one of the rare ones that manage to have that feel to it. Which is really difficult to achieve.
And yeah, seen lot of fan art where they shun Asgore or make him the comedy figure, but I always remember he, too, was a parent who had to cope with the loss of both of his children on his own.
