Warning: Long and mushy. If you're averse to that, last chance to turn back.
So, somewhat over a year ago, I linked the video to Celine Dion's "Takin' Chances" (yes, that sums up my taste in music, what of it? ) to a certain friend. For the almost all of you who've never heard it, the refrain goes
"What do you say to takin' chances /
What do you say to jumpin' off the edge /
Never knowin' if there's solid ground below /
Or a hand to hold / or hell to pay... /
What do you say /
What do you say..."

And he understood my shy, indirect hint.
And so, Devon and I have been official technically over a year, but it was solidified when our schedules finally synced up and we managed to meet this year. Yeah, yeah, intarweb boyfriends and all.
At any rate, I've never quite figured out whether opposites attract or not, but after finally dating a few years, I concluded a mate should be a challenge. In a good way. An intellectual equal, someone who'll listen to your opinions, but not blindly. And also someone who'll get you to try new things.
Devon is unquestionably a free spirit and free thinker, and I've found myself lowering my inhibitions when he's around, letting my mischievous side come out more, allowing myself to be goofier. We ignored "Do Not Climb On" signs, and surprise, the world didn't end. We've been canoeing, as averse as I am to water. Hell, some of you have even seen me *gasp* mugging it up in photographs! I know I'm uptight and stuffy, so loosening up is a tough lesson. But I'm getting there.
Sometimes I feel like I'm shooting down his suggestions of things we can try. I mean, my gut instinct is to say no. That doesn't mean I can't be convinced, however. I just have to stop thinking so damn hard about things.
So while I can't say I'm going to go along with everything he does--ie, he's offered to introduce me to some of the, um, pet arthropods from his biology lab, and THAT sure as heck isn't going to happen x.x--there's things I should be willing to try. And I will. Certainly not immediately. Maybe not all even this year. But consider this a reminder of my pledge to him that "no" doesn't mean "no", it means "I'm afraid, and you'll have to walk me through it." So while I never make official New Year's Resolutions, this seemed like a good time to post it.
Pictured above are a few things he's talked about where I've more or less labelled him as crazy (I almost put the song lyrics on the image, but it didn't look right); motorcycling, snow angels in boxers, scuba diving, camping. Fortunately, he considers "crazy" to be a compliment. And maybe I can be a little crazy too.
It's b/w because I had no idea how to merge the background coloration otherwise. My Photoshop-fu only extends so far.
He doesn't have an FA account, so he hasn't seen this yet. I'll show him when I visit tomorrow--so I'll be AFK a bit.
Thanks for reading through my dorkiness. ^ ^;;

Camping prolly isn't so bad, but I have a problem with arthropods (and there was a bit of an incident with...ticks the last time I visited him). And for the record, well, we did the snow angel bit XD
Many thanks! The visit went extremely well, so I'm hopin' for good things myself.
Good luck on your end too, hope you hook up ASAP

Awwwww.
Snow angels in boxers? I'm the kind of person that rushes up the stairs and under a blanket if I go outside without a jacket in the winter. I guess if you do that you could say you've done it though! I'm sure not many people have!
Have fun and thanks for sharing, this is very cute.

Absolutely adorable. We're so happy for you bud. 10 years we've known each other and it keeps getting better. :)
I'm so happy you found someone this cool too. Devon is a great guy, and you're BOTH hotties ;)
Artwise, love the expressions with bodies and face. And Dev's got some big paws ;3.
Happy new year to you both. :). Now you gotta drag him to Chicago!

Excellent. All the best. :)
Its interesting though, the biggest risk often is opening up to someone. The other risks seem kinda small in retrospect. Trying things with the right motivation is a very different thing. I'm nervous of heights yet hiked several mountains. There's other things too, but that's the one that stands out right now.
I do love the octopus in that picture. :)

Thx much, dude You @ FC?
Heh, so true, although it's a lot easier to do it online XD I don't know if I'd ever have the guts iRL.
I could go into the usual cliche's of "It's okay as long as I'm with you" but I don't want to get even mushier XD
Gah, everyone likes mollusk torment. Wrrrrryyyy??? XD

As to mollusks... if drawn right octopi can be very cute (OK, its a cuddlefish technically http://www.furaffinity.net/view/634685/ ). They look cute hugging. They do hugging well.
Agreed on the easier online. I am very guarded when it comes to things closer than friends, and some of the distance of online has helped in that regard (and then stress with having to deal with long distance relationships)
"Its OK as long as I'm with you" may be a cliche, but there's a reason why it is a cliche. I would not have undertaken a 13+ hour hike to the point of my feet being in pain with every step without there being some truth to the cliche.
As to FC, you bet I'll be there. FC and MFF I refuse to miss. Too many people to meet. Besides, I have strong motives outside the con to travel to San Jose now.

Very sweet work. And great song. Hmm, when it comes to relationships, anything is possible. It's true. You need to take chances. Then you can find your love. This is a truely sweet piece. And what you say, hehe, it sounds cool that your trying to get photographed more.
But it's so awesome that you found someone who loves you as much as you love him. You two sound perfect for each other. And I've not even talked to him. You are a very lucky person, Vince. I'm so happy for ya. I hope you have a great time together. Have a great vacation. Take care.

Wait, so you actually know that song? Yay!
Thankee much. And yep...took lots of photos...and even did the snow angels.
Well, hope you do manage to run into him at some point, he's a great guy. Thankee all around. I had a great time, and now I'm even further behind on e-mail ^ ^;; My poor inbox. ::::hugs:: Take care too!
