Come on down to Crazy Olin's Pet Empire©(TM)!
We've got the latest in anything and everything from this world and the next; everything from now, then, and next week!
This solar system or not, this galaxy or not, this dimension or not, you want it? we can get it!
I have not yet met the person who's come into my store and hasn't left with the perfect partner, paired with a loyal, loving, constant companion!
Cuddly or not, there's something for everyone here; Classics like cats and dogs, to exotic entities made of living slime, or even those made consisting of pure energy, all here for you to find and cherish.
And speaking of dogs, who-ever said they were MAN's best friend? I know a lot of lovely, lonely ladies who have availed themselves of our strapping (and leather bound, leash-strapped) canine collection when they wanted a warm, friendly face to come home to. It can be very handy to have a non-human 'man around the house' to do chores while you're off with your career, women of the working world! You don't need a husband when you have a hunk of a husky who hangs off of your every word.
I would also never say that a dog is a man's or a woman's BEST friend, either. To each one's own! Perhaps you're less down to earth and more of a free spirit, someone with their head in the clouds. Well, you can literally put your head in the clouds with our bigger bird inventory! Get away from it all and fly to new heights AND new places with your avian escort to adventure.
Not one for such dizzying (and maybe death-defying) daring-do? More subdued? Quiet? Not one for all the yapping, mowling and squawking of what I've been talking about so far?
I know a peaceful little corner of my store that's just for you.
Perhaps you yearn for a classier day-to-day existence. More erudite, elegant, stylish? Scales, my friend! You need a refined, reserved, resplendent reptile to reach the heights of luxury living. Boas as butlers, posh, polished pythons presenting a polite placid air of affluence. Serpentine servents are silent, swift and strong; deferent, discreet and discerning aides.
Meanwhile, for the more mental-minded, might I suggest something soft-spoken and sweet? For the bookish and bashful among you, a pet of the same disposition! Someone to hang out with and discuss delicate matters. Spiders are more thoughtful and kind than one might expect. Creative with their webbing, too, these eight-legged wonders will trap your heart in a silken embrace.
And the quietest of you out there, we have the most silent pets of all, the aquatics. Extremely low maintenance, our marine selection can be gazed upon just for their sirene beauty. I know they all either appreciate the attention with a touch of exhibitionism deep in their souls or are not mindful of it.
Depending on your home situation, you might also make use of your very own personal trainer. Nothing says motivation like being chased by a shark.. or supernaturally lured by a siren's song! [Yes, we have merfolk in both the traditional human-skinned upper body variety AND the more animalistic appearing individuals, as well, not to worry!]
Finally, for those of you with an eye on ethics, I challenge you to come in and actually talk to these majestic beings, who you are so quick to assume are here at Pet Empire©(TM) against their will!
You will find that every last one of them is happy to have the chance to become that missing part of someone else's life, as their own lives were so empty (either through personal misfortune or planetary misfortune) before volunteering to come to my vast location (at 700736847 Park Avenue, North East Sector, Nova Central City), here on Zakin-9.
They want to be pets, they want to have masters, owners, someone to claim them and protect them; or to be given purpose in protecting you. Those who do not want this bond would not be part of my inventory, and would have chosen to go elsewhere, to roles, jobs, apprenticeships, military or civilian.
So, dear friends: Treat yourself to the present of a pet and give to them the gift of a Forever Home.
This submission is a study in procrastination, or, more optimistically, it's an example of the longevity of some concepts.
I had the idea for this picture about 6 years ago, I believe, AND, I've had the pic itself for years, too (since 2012)! Then, I wrote the above textual pieces to accompany the visual last fall, in October, when I had been seized by an inclination / motivation to write for and post my large backlog of art.
I'm trying to get back on that particular wagon right now, so any encouragement in the comments would be much appreciated!
Speaking of posting the art I've gotten and never shown - as I implied in the previous paragraph, I want to write little pieces for all of it, to post alongside it, rather than just straight-up posting pictures alone. But what do you, the audience, think of that? Would you prefer I just get all the old art up, or do you think it's a good idea to always do some writing for them - for entertainment, for context, for added depth, for writing practice?
(Oh, and I would be slightly remiss if I didn't mention that I only found Namh, the artist, due to
Amaranth having discovered him first, and having commissioned him before I did. So thanks Ama!)

No one's ever come up to ask
how my characters came to be;
'Top of your head?' 'End of a flask?'
In truth: they were all sold to me.
I bought them all, from a store
for cold hard cash, one by one
all-ways go-ing - back for more
'cause they simply - looked like fun!
Am' was first, coily and cool.
Ned came next, quiet and shy.
Ace was third, needed a pool.
'Nom was forth, the strange slime guy.
They are all really great,
wouldn't trade them for anything!
~
But, to say this, I hate:
to them, it might be quite a sting--
--I have a brand new pet
that tops them all.
But I can't show it yet.
Maybe.. next fall.

There was never any doubt in my mind. >:}
But, you know, he looks like he might be a handful, he might be too much for you to handle. But maybe that's exactly the sort of thing you'd like.
Seriously though, that's Amethystine, not a pet. Clearly he's been trapped in some strange, twisted pet store from another dimension, or something! (yes, I know that's not clear, haha) --and he's obviously plotting an escape plan. Probably.
Anyway, thanks for the comment and the fave! :}===<

I feel like it taps into your interests a little bit. I mean, it might not be rubber/latex-triggered TFs into huge buff and sexy reptile-men, but it's got captivity, and a sense of neat anthros being made to serve a master/masters. Annnd I feel like the idea of it being this extra-dimensional or outerspace place where such things are treated as normal is also something you'd go for.
Maybe? haha -- All in all, I think the appeal is in how there seems to be a story or two going on just within the art itself, regardless of what my text added (and then my writing adds another layer, even).
Anyway, thanks for the comment and the fave, Serathin! It's lovely to have a writer I admire saying such things to me. <:

Mmmm I can certainly see that for the appeal, the keeping of exotic and sentient creatures on the whim of the viewing pleasure of others. I do really agree on the fact that it appears that such captivity is 'normal' for those inside, like they're making the best of the situation and might actually be comfortable with it. :P
You're welcome, always fun to see what you come up with. ^. .^

How is it that I did not see this until now? Your characters look amazing in it!
I love the little piece you wrote to go with the image. It makes me very curious to learn more about what's going on in their world. Especially what's going on between Ace and the lovely mermaid above the random Goldeen.

Oh ho. I would have to visit such an emporium. If nothing but just to window gaze.
I know it is a bit rough for you, but I think that these stories do add a bit to things. And I know that you like doing them, but you get so many pieces it must be hard to put out a story for each one. I say you should keep doing them for as long as you still enjoy them. Of course I occasionally get sneak previews because you showed me this a few years ago. I don't remember Anomoly coming out of the vent there. I didn't catch it until just today.
And that poem does have me curious now.

Well, this would certainly be a unique and unconventional pet shop, even if it ends up looking like a fantasy Chippendale. All the characters are posed and illustrated nicely and they give us a clear view of their daily lives in wait. The shop description goes nicely with it too.
P.S. At first, I thought the slimenoid oozing out the vent was just a pile of shedded skin. :S

Some ideas just stick with you. There's this one picture of Amethystine on a bed, offering the viewer an apple. I had that idea years and years ago soon after I had made Ame in the first place. I wrote it down in a file that had various informational tidbits about Ame. I never lost the file and I never stopped wanting to get the picture.
I finally got around to having it drawn, by Pulsar, and then finally used it in a story in 2017, which is where you'll see it, I believe. :}
The story that I ended up making for the companion picture, though, that was a fresh 2017 aspect to the 'classic idea' I had finally made use of.
Anyway, yes! I'm glad some concepts become indelible in the minds of the people who create them, to ensure that they put them out in the world, for others to share in.

Yeah! I'm making my way toward it! And my sneak peak has shown me it's rather saucy. :P
I'll keep that concept of hatching plans in mind when I begin reading that story.
I see in a lot of your descriptions and comments (around this relatively earlier and including this submission from years back)-- you refer to pieces of art that you had been wanting to companion with writing. It's a good exercise, I think! Even if your submissions come out a bit staggered from the illustrating artist's posting of the piece.

I push myself to almost always have a piece of writing with every picture I post. I never wanted to be akin to the 'writers' I often saw on this website, where they are listed as an author, but then their gallery is empty of stories and just full of art pieces they've commissioned, with no narrative or blurb or anything to accompany the art.
As for my posts being staggered from the artist's submission of the art: I might as well let them get all the attention they're going to get from their work before I submit the same thing in another corner of the site, perhaps siphoning off some eyeballs.
