Time passes..
I just can't paint over a shield that has been through stuff with me, been beaten and pierced and protected me and been my face on the field...
Therefor, I feel like I should preserv these specific memories of each shield.
The one to the left is the oldest and the one to the right were made yesterday night. The face might be plain but the quality is more than doubled. No ratteling and it's thin, light and strong as hell. The front has a multiple-layered linen laminate that will stop most blows from getting into the wooden core. The grip is a metal, wood and leather combination that is as comfy as a swordhilt. The rim of the shield is made of thick raw hide that has been slightly heated to not soften too much during damp weather.
The green is the color of the fighting guild Huskarlarna. (The Housecarls) I have been fighting with them for two summers and used my own shield so far. I just recently earned my place among the greenshields. I'm now what we call a "Husman" (man of the House) which is a middle rank. My next step is "Huskarl". As Huskarl, I can add the yellow faced man to the green field. but that will be for a new shield ^^
It may seem like a step down to go from an ornated Lake-end Shield to a plain Housecarl green. But know that I will never leave my own Lake-end heraldry. But it will stay home while I bring the Housecarld green to Germany and Poland and Finland to kick some major ass!
HUSKARL!! :D

Aawww Thank you ^w^ I made the middle one as a heraldry for my own home, Sjöänden.
You get used to the weight after a while and learn how to distribute the mass by supporting it with your knee and shoulder.
Of course, after 20 fights in Germany, your arms are pretty numb x,3

I make and wield them myself, yes. You could call it s sport ^^' A full-contact sport. Exept from having a base of plywood, in stead of planks, they are made pretty much in the same way as the original shields were. Really gals you liked them ^//w//^
Naaaaahhhh you're not that short!^^ You're just one and a half hand shorter than me. If you would wield a shield, it would be hard to hit you behind it C: And they can always be adjusted to the user :3

Sorry for the late reply.
Oh wow.. never been commissioned for a shiel before.. It may be hard to shipm due to its weight and massive size.
Another issue is that a fully usable shield with all its aspect will be very expensive. There's many dificult and timeconsuming processes in its making, and the buckle, rim, linen, paint and hamp cord are all bought personaly. A finished shield would probably land around 260 € before shipping.
If you'd be able to come to NordicFuzzCon, then the shipping wouldn't be needed. But as stated, I can't sell it for much less than that.
But thanks for your interest!

You got a point. I didn t think about the size and weight for shipping. But I indeed consider to go to NordicFuzzcon next year.
260€ is a fair price for a custom made battle ready shield and I know it is a lot of work to do, because the shield isn`t just a simple piece of driftwood.
I would love to get a viking themed custom shield from a scandinavian manufacturer.
Take your time and think about the idea of a commission. If you feel well with the idea, send me a note.
