Anyone that knows me knows that
Rua_Whitepaw is a very dear friend of mine.
Anyone that knows Rua Whitepaw knows that she just a fox cat. She does not have butterfly wings.
The wings are symbolic of her future triumph over her anxieties.
Let's not kid ourselves, learning to become the master of one's disability--rather than it being one's master-- is a long uphill battle. However, even if she can't see it herself, Rua is gaining ground. I am certain that she is gradually emerging from the darkness of the cocoon that she has been trapped in. I have been Rua's friend for over two years, now. I have shared in her struggles, and even her small victories. I have no doubt that she shall emerge triumphant, and be free to shine!
I have been working on this project since about 6:00 PM, on Fiday, June 27, 2015. As of 9:00 PM, on Thursday September 10, 2015, I declared the Black and White portion of this project completed. I later began to add color. At 6:00 PM, on Friday, October 16, 2015 (Even though I signed it and dated it on the 12th :p ). And now, at 8:30 PM, on Friday, December 4, 2015, I am finally releasing my work to my Gallery (what's with all of the Fridays?).
If you wish, you may compare this version with the black and white version:

When I added color, I also added more features, such as leaves on the trees, more grass, and, more trees along the background.
I was hoping that adding color would improve the look of the cocoon. It may have, but not by much. Perhaps if I drew from a photo of a cocoon I would have gotten better results. As it is, I'll be happy if the average viewer at least thinks that it's supposed to be a nest!
