A year and a half ago I drew this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13661468/ Aunty spec challenged me to redraw it I put my absolutely everything into this piece really hope it shows
It had a story:
Ari walked into her little cousin's nursery while the adults chatted in the kitchen. She had been warned that Gem wasn't feeling well, but she still wanted to see her. Gem was sitting on the floor pouting and throwing her toys at the wall, or trying to anyway. Her short stubby baby arms only got most of them a foot away at best. She looked up hearing someone come in, as Ari walked over and sat down by her side. "Can I play too?" she asked. Gem just crammed a block in her mouth, she didn't feel much like playing. The medicine her mommy had given her had helped but the feelings of earlier still left her in a bad mood. Ari took this as a no and offered "How about a story?". The little squirrel's eyes grew wide. A story? She loved stories tons. Ari patted her lap signalling gem to climb onto it. Gem crawled onto the bigger cub's lap still chewing her block, with grub, her stuffed caterpillar held in her other paw. "How about I tell you the story of how I met someone very special?" Ari offered. Gem nodded, her mind wandering through anyone she thought might be special that her big cousin could have met, The cookie monster?, Santa?, The tooth fairy?. Gem's thought's quieted as Ari began her story. "I was only four years old. I had come home from pre-k and Mama took me over to here. Back then, the last time I had seen this room it'd been full of boxes an stuff, an Aunt Nikol had been all big." "Mama!" the little squirrel called out hearing her mother's name. Ari nodded "uh huh yoor mama, but before she was yoor mama. When we got here she let us in an the first thing I noticed was she looked lots tinier, still tons bigger than me though. She led us into this room and it was all pretty like it is now...but cleaner." Gem giggled knowing she was the cause of the mess and feeling just a bit proud of it. "It had all kinds of baby stuff, like a crib and a changing table. I was real confused cause it was all stuff for a much smaller baby than yoor sisters an brothers are. Yoor moomy went over to the crib and took out what looked like a tiny plushie till it started to move. It was you." Gem giggled and clapped. "Your mommy introduced us to you an asked if my mama wanted to hold you. I jumped up an rose my hand tellin her I did, so she had me wash my paws real good an sit down. Then she put you in my arms showin me how to hold you. Yoo weren't much taller than a barbie doll cept for your tail, if was nearly as big as you," She looked at Gem's tail as the squirrel curled up against her the block now replaced with her thumb as she looked up at Ari. "Still is" She continued. "It tickled my leg as I adjusted to make sure you were safe. I was kinda nervous, but I knew it was ok cuz yoor mama was helping support your head and showin me what to do. I loved you right away, you were so sweet soft and gentle and so little. You stayed in my arms for a while, before yoor mama had to take you to give yoo your bottle. I wanted to try feedin you but they said I was too little. Now I'm big enough though. I came to see you as often as I could after that, still do and always will." She told the baby squirrel who was already asleep in her lap gently petting the back of Gemma's head. "Nini Gem, I wuv you cuz" She whispered kissing her baby cousin on the forehead as she drifted farther into sleep prepared to sit there until she woke up, hopefully feeling better.

Wowie, wow, wow, Ari! The difference between the original work and this update is astounding! Both versions have their own unique charm, but you can certainly see how you've improved on your shading, depth, design, and proportions from the original to this version.
The story is ultra sweet, too! I love it! I had no idea you are so close to Gem. I'm sure it is a lot of fun sharing stories with the lil' squiggle.
What I like most is the telling of holding a newborn for the first time. It is an astounding experience that requires a lot of gentle care. It made me smile to hear the story read. So thank you. :)

I do believe that makes us very alike. People who know me are awesome to be around and I seem "Normal". However, as I've experienced in public areas with complete strangers, I often am avoided or getting perceived concepts tossed at me.
I'm so happy you and I are friends, Ari. I wish I could spend more time talking and sharing work with you than I currently am able to. A 2015 highlight, for me, is having become such close friends with you. :)
