its sad that people are so offended by things these days that we have to resort to stuff like this for real... what gets me is some stores will put "happy holidays" up right above some other religious holiday wishes... I was all like.."wait, what" guess if its perceived as Christian in origin, its offensive... but if its any other religion its ok... whatever... don't want to start a fight... but Merry Christmas : )
It's not about being offended or offensive, it's about being respectful and inclusive of the half dozen holidays that aren't Christmas that are celebrated in December in the US and Canada. It's not a big deal. I wasn't trying to make a political statement, I was trying to be cheeky since I celebrate the season with friends of multiple faiths and backgrounds. I'm not even Christian.
hmm... ok.. not sure how you got that out of what I typed actually... but I have no problem at all with others having a holiday this time of year.. in fact I have absolutely nothing but joy for those who celebrate their holiday whenever it be... but yes there are people who get highly offended by saying Merry Christmas to them... there are even people who have filed complaints about Nativity scenes on private property... That's why some stores I've seen will put up "happy holidays" right over something like "Happy Hanukkah" instead of Merry Christmas and "insert whatever you want here" Its not about them leaving out Christmas, its why... if they hadn't wanted to put it there, then no big deal... not everyone celebrates every holiday... And for the record, I've had people literally tell me they didn't like hearing "merry Christmas" because they didn't believe in God... even had one guy cuss me out for saying "God bless you" when he sneezed.
so think what you will, but it has literally nothing to do with me not wanting to recognize some other holiday at this time...

its weird to reply to your own message, but I thought this might interest some: http://national.deseretnews.com/art.....-december.html
Its a list of Holidays this month from various religions.. not sure how complete it is... a couple of them I didn't even know about...
BTW JamminBison... I wasn't suggesting your card was about a political statement... just when I saw it, it reminded me of a few cards I saw in Hallmark that were specifically designed to be non-specific... to me, if you want to send a card to someone you should find out what they celebrate if possible and send a card based on that or just be you and send one based on what you celebrate... whatever that may be... anyway, sorry for the commotion...

But for me, I make my cards. Due to having a job/life, especially when I'm also drawing gifts for people, I can only make one card. So yeah, I guess for people who buy cards, they should just find out, but sometimes people send to every John, Dick, and Larry they known from their community and don't necessarily know the people intimately. So there's not harm or foul in them just blanket stating it in those cases.
Love the expression, it sums up how I feel about this particular month give me Halloween and Bonfire night over this season anyday. That said at one time I had so many family members who celebrated various holidays this time of year that we'd get cards like this to wish them well over the season.
Personally I prefer Krampuslauf, Terrifying but fun.

I actually fucking love Christmas time, but yeah I hear you. I can't keep up, and last year my card was super Christian since the family I was with was hella Catholic, but then I couldn't really send it to other people without them thinking I was religious so I decided to go pan-holiday with this one ahhaha
LMAO. If only it was mainstream
