Reminds me of Arkansas from Minefield.

He's this guy in a town known as minefield because it's absolutely riddled with mines that by the way both explode faster and have a wider proximity then usual. He basically shoots at you on sight so most basically kill him as a reaction.

Yeah it is a nice bit of writing...sort of like how that chick from the scrap yard town with the nuke in the middle. If you choose to detonate it she survives due to luck but basically comes out of it a ghoul.

It was luck, she was off in the neighboring ruins when it happens, taking readings for her book.

heh. go figure. the one aspect of her book she actually does herself. lucky, indeed. though i wouldn't really call turning into a ghoul "lucky." but i guess it's better than dying, right? not that she would have felt it. vapourized immediately... i blew up the place just to see what the explosion would look like, but later reloaded it so i didn't have to. i'm such a nice lion, aren't i?

In my case I only know this because my sister was the one who blew up megaton otherwise on my file I disarmed the bomb and shot Burk right in the head.

So, as it turns out, Arkansas IS quest-important. Or rather, for the "Strictly Business" quest, you have to collect him to be a slave in Paradise Falls! So there you have it... Explains why i never got (and therefore never got the achievement for) that quest...

Meh, no matter the game I'm too much of a goody two shoes to do really bad stuff...oblivions DB quest chain being an exception save for the quest with the argonian who ran off. Course I sometimes break down and spend an hour offing people in town only to reload a previous save after.
