Yes... lol. The last names have more to do with what region of Evyr (the world the Fera (name of the anthro-mammal people in UberQuest) come from.

Names from Alder, particularly around Northon (the capital) are English/European inspired. The Akai Islands is a mixture of Japanese/Danish-Viking culture (Sesame's last name is Akane.) Farron and Dante are from Hazerath and their last name is Jacques but they are more cajun-creole inspired. Dahakis from Taequis come from the south and have African/Middle-Eastern/Indian inspiration.

I wouldn't say each race (for instance, all cats or all dog Fera) represent a human equivalent or country. Like all cats are asian or whatever. Anyways hope that makes sense!
