I can't believe I drew this. It looks absolutely nothing like my usual artwork.
Normally I just do lineart, cellshading. bam. Good to go.
But I decided Id try something fancier, semi-realistic-ish?? buut it's still rather anime-styled?
Used a bit of photo reference for this one, otherwise I assure you that coat would not look at all like it does. Photo reference is amazingly helpful holy cow. Guys, photo reference is super helpful, go use it. Why did I not do this before?
I've not attempted semi-realism, or any sort of realism at all lately aside from what I do in life drawing class. Digitally, it's a little trickier to render. And this is my first attempt to step away from using any kind of lineart/sketch lines aside from what little bit is left to define his face. I wanted it to look kind of paint-y or airbrushy.
Happy with it for now.
Will probably hate it within a month.

This took about 8-9 hours from sketching to fully coloring and finishing, all done in Photoshop.
