I started watching my tom and jerry and my warner brothers dvd collections again today while browsing through the net and fa for inspiration and it just struck me; my characters have no breath of life.
like I do believe I come up with original designs but I don't think I make them what they could be, sure, my character hammy is different, but apart from the floating head he's typical "webcomic / internet art" body proportions.
I want that breath of life, I want proper sense of movement, I want what others before us perfected 75 years ago.
I hope posting this and my practices (no matter how bad) here it'll inspire some others of you to post up your experiments in improvement, I feel like this entire fandom is stagnating; people shell out the exact same poses, the exact same characters and the exact same jokes.
as artists we need that drive to constantly improve, the desire to not only "do enough" but do the most we can.
now you wont notice any incline in the detail of my work but that's because I want the sense of movement, I want to animate, so hopefully it's my designs and sense of movement that'll improve.

I actually have been doing that just recently and reading up on it ALOT.
got at least 40 books on the subject too, no idea how much Im not gonna go count through my bookshelf.
it's just I read through them, it's just it never clicks to completely use them when Im sketching for some reason (click in my head)
hard to explain, it's like I completely forget about them just when I'm drawing heheh.
what bought this up really is going through my watch list and those different banner ads popping up and just getting bombarded with the same, not-quite-a-real-but-almost-might-be-a-real-species half smirking face staring back at me

heh..unfortunately i suck to hard to be inspired. but to me your characters, sketches, doodles, (stains?) have life in them. It's mainly why i watch you....besides the porn and lulz.
I really really hope you become not just a succesful animator, but a damn good one so i can see your drawings come to life.
