If you know me, you know I'm new at costuming and the heads I have done are sculpted and painted, never furred. My husband's and my "fursonas" are a sort of horse-deer hybrid and thus... is fuzzy. This is my first ever attempt at fussing a resin head. This particular head is a buck from DVC.
I'm praying this will work out, I simply don't really know what I'm doing and not JUST the head, but I've never made a proper bodysuit or ANYTHING! O.O; I tried to convince my husband to commission a proper artist but he refused claiming he "likes my style". :(
Roland is working on a voice box for each head so when we talk, it glitches our voice out (like a voice on a computer that isn't doing so hot) and we want to see if we can make the marking LED.... and I'm just so lost how that would work. Need LED strips instead of bulbs? What about potential damage from sweat? Where on earth would all those battery packs go?! What about storage? Do the LEGs go -under- the fur? Urg! :(

Ah, thank you. These guys have manes... made out of...god knows what, I haven't figured that out yet, but they do have that to help out at least!. I had three battery packs for my Otachi head, but she had a hunchback so I actually hid the packs in the hunch for that costume. I'd appreciate any pointers. I'm SO nervous about this particularly because these costumes mean a lot to us and it would be my first time making a costume for someone else. Luckily it's my husband and I know he'd love anything I make for him without much complaint.
dont forget to make and install the ears before furring (unless this critter doesnt have ears or you have something specific in mind)!
also if youre going to do the face and neck separate id say do the neck fur then fur the face- cuts down on potential fuck ups later down the line.
as for making the marking LED you can use normal led's but you have to map out where they go ahead of time and either drill them into the base or lay them on top of the base and fur over them. The fur also needs to be a light color for the light to shine through them. alternatively you could use EL wire

Ah! I total would have furred the face first then done neck stuff, thanks for saving my butt on not only that but the ear thing too! I've actually never done anything with ears so I wasn't 100% sure. Fwoo!
Nice to note the LEDs go UNDER the fur and thankfully the marking on these guys are neons, so Virus is neon green, and Glitch is like a bright neon blue / cyan sort of colour. :D

Lydia, sorry for asking but it seems as though you've done masks with antlers and horns. My mask with horns has the horns permanently attached thus he isn't that great for storage space. I keep hearing about people using "Screw on horns" or something of the likes, do you know what the heck that is?! I simply do not understand. I have some sweet "Toony" antlers from DVC for these guys but I'd love to make the antlers removable for transport and storage. I do not know what people when when they say "Screw-on" horns, or even "detachable"
ive never made any removable actually just off of fear that the connection would wear out or fail eventually but typically people mean literally screws and bolts or ive even heard of people using the top of a 2 liter of soda and inserting the cap into the horn at the bottom.
