I'm so late with properly writing these comments. It is sad. I am not sure if you might see or read this ever, Spoony, but I wanna say outside from my praise oin notes, this one is supercute and still deserves some proper feedback. Thanks for forgiving this silly Slowpoke. <XD
Hah, it's always lovely when I see cartoonists, illustrators and character artists create such adorable costume art pieces for various characters. I love it here on FA just as much as when there is the lucky occasion of it happening in a show or movie or game. Totodile is already such a jolly Pokémon in the anime and my Shiny isn't any less eager to share his happiness with everyone.
While I find it quite a shame that nowadays clowns often only get more presence in the media for their terrible horrific variants on Halloween, they at least do remind you that most of them are just badly designed and give the impression that people just don't get what makes actual clowns so amazing, namely their circus feel of bringing artistic, colorful and fantastic playfulness and a big top of magic and entertainment to people.
Seriously, when I think of clowns, I think of people with wonderful humor, love for reminding people of their kid at heart and people who make show filled with laughs that come right from their own heart as well. That is why circus is still such a nice thing in the modern time, I feel. They have something that is whimsical and lovely about them and make me smile each time when I think of the kinds that give it their all to look friendly and like they are dreamers. 💚
That said, I find it still so interesting that around clowns is such a rich history and all those fun roles that they can play. There's the 'Auguste' clown, who wears sillier outfits which seem like making him look a bit clumsy now and then. There is also the 'Pierro' aka the 'Whiteface' clown which usually appears more serious and less silly. You can pretty much tell, Shiny is pretty much both here though. A silly and pretty Totoclown.
Thanks to your sweet work on his fancy onesie style costume, Shiny looks like wrapped in shining silky paper nearly. I find it so sweet that he sports all those little ♪ marks on his costumes, as it's his mark of recognition afterall.
Alongside that, Shiny's costume also features many soft shapes. The frills remind me of flowers and somewhat make it moreso a perfect fit if one remembers the clown trick with the flower that spouts water at them. Shiny definitely can do so thanks to being the Water Type he is.
I also enjoy thos pufffy pomps on his costume and hat which give him an even cuter feel. And lastly, he carries balloons. Who wouldn't get happy about those? Shiny himself surely is eager to make more appear and to hand to others.
I think you made a wonderful rendition of Shiny as a 'Whiteface' and I think he doesn't ebven really need makeup to look amazing.
