Kristavi Baladeva is the youngest of four children born to a fighting-type family from the Johto region. Her family was very competitive, and being the youngest she was often picked on by her older siblings while her parents insisted she just tough it out. Feeling that she would never be as good of a fighter as they were, she instead devoted her efforts to succeeding academically, much to her parents' chagrin. While they didn't devalue a good education, they didn't approve of her seeming lack of effort in the fighting arts.

Kristavi was sent to the prestigious Poke-Combat Academy as were both of her older brothers years before (her older sister attended a lesser such school in the Johto region after losing a battle with one of the brothers for the privilege of attending the P.C.A.). Although she did reasonably well in battles, her focus was on more intellectual pursuits, and the then-scrawny machop was constantly harassed by her family for her neglect of the family's craft.

The conflict would come to a head during winter break of last year when she returned home for the vacation. Both of her brothers cornered her in the family's training gym and started a fight, disgusted by her "shameful" actions. She fought back as best she could but was in a losing battle against the older, stronger machoke and monferno. Whether through desperation or finally reaching a breaking point, the fight triggered Kristavi's evolution into a machoke, which came suddenly and without warning.

However, this development only served to intensify her brothers' attack. Feeling overwhelmed and outnumbered, Kristavi flew into a fit of desperate rage, triggering a second evolution into a machamp less than a minute after her evolution into a machoke. By this point the fight had been broken up by her parents, who were proud of her for perhaps the first time in her life.

Unfortunately the rapid two-stage evolution was not without consequences, and her body underwent severe strain from rushing through her prior form too quickly. She was forced to withdraw from the school in order to undergo significant rehabilitation and physical therapy while her body repaired the damage it had done to itself and she effectively grew into her current form.

Now healthy and fully recovered, Kristavi has returned to the academy. Although physically much more imposing then previously she hasn't quite mentally caught up to this yet and is still somewhat awkward in every sense of the word. Although she's concentrating more on battles now, she hasn't abandoned her academic focus. Grateful to the doctors who aided in her recovery (no easy task, all things considered), she has elected to focus her studies on medicine. Although now larger and stronger than her older siblings, she still isn't as good of a fighter. However she does know that no fighter picks on the guy who puts them back together after the battle, which is just more incentive for her to succeed at it.
