Personally, I think it's a great piece. The hairstyle definitely looks more fitting in some ways. Also, the shades and suit design are spot-on.

My only, tiny little qualm is the ear lines. While they do add quite a bit of detail, I'm not sure if they're supposed to be additional markings on the original flat ear design or a part of the ear that's closer to his front in a more 3D kind of look. Would you mind clarifying in a reply to this comment only?

part of the ear closer to front. :3 since his ears are facing out to the sides i decided to make his ears more realistic kinda for an oshawott instead of them just looking like horns

Ah, alright. Either way, I think you've nailed this one. Compared to the old one, you've definitely improved your style. Maybe not drastically, but hey, even the little things and fine details count.

Because there would be way too many little details there, unless they decided to not visit too many locations and such. Sanctuaries/settlements of their own could be used regardless of which part of the world they're in, thankfully.
