However as the artist, can i just say I'm not good at drawing armor as is. the only thing I can think of that I had inspiration from was the neck piece. and that was because he wanted something Geometric in nature that could hold the helmet.

Seeing as my art style isn't very squared or honed for such things as armor and weaponry (this is about as far as ive gone with armor previously https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17221917/ ) I required at least a visual hint as to what he wanted. He provided it for me and i went along on my own.

Everything was hand drawn and took a long time to do.

I can understand where you're coming from, but I did everything I could to make this its own thing and would appreciate a bit more understanding.

You're making art, it's not your fault when something isn't original. You're talented, and you're using that talent very well. In no way was this a remark about your artistic abilities, it is just a statement. Nothing is original about this. Not the character, not the setup. It's a stereotypical sergal in a suit that has been used countless times in art.

You're the ignorant one this one. This site is filled filled with characters that people put their feelings into, no matter how solid color or two color they are. Its not just the look of characters that matter, its the personality and the stories they're involved in, why be on a site where you can see this type of shit and go on complaining about it. If you sit around doing this for fun then 10/10 you are on the path to damnation.

As far as I know he's a one of a kind for now,
I had permissions from the species creator to make him a hybrid.

No...this is average. As someone who actually uses dA over FA, I can assure you this is nothing new.

I've seen probably 3 "Closed Species" with designs similar, but far better. Everyone thinks they're creative and new, but no one actually is. At least not ones who make "Closed Species". The ones who do never get noticed, so they stay original. That's why it works.

And it's funny...always will there be people like ToonishNom. You are kind and go about it civilly, but he just deems me a troll because he disagrees with me. You are mature, he has the maturity of a pre-pubescent teen.

I only call it what I did because of how often I see it, and the engineer suit only adds to that.

nothing is original anymore because there is so much out there its already been done at least once before. total originality is hard to come by now days honestly. Sometimes it will pop up here and there, but still.

I'll admit the color scheme is a tad bit original, but that was my complete color choice as I didn't want him to stand out, I put the xeno parts on him because I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted.

frankly I wanted to make the character easy for a fursuit maker to make, seeing as the colors are fairly common.

I'll admit the comment was a bit upfront, but you are entitled to that. Also, I agree, I rather like their shark like features.

I think they're vicious overall appearance is what gets me. But yes, it was 'very' upfront, and heavily blunt. That's honestly all I use this account for, I have dA for being nice. That said, about your colors...I'd never ever chalk that up to part of something being "original". Unless it is nothing but neon colors or something with rainbow hair/tail, then I don't consider it. You can't have original colors, but you can have bad choices...
