Lauren entered the bar and looked around for Kate. He spotted the snake sitting in the corner, which was an unconventional place for the snake he knew to be. Lauren walked up to him and sat down.

"Hey, Chris."

"Kate, it's me, Lauren. I'm in Chris's body. We swapped and I've been wearing his for a few weeks now." He still felt strange hearing his mate's voice come out of his mouth instead of his usual feminine tone, but he had to admit being a ram had its perks. The upper body strength was nice, not to mention being the male in a chivalrous romantic setting was at times rather gratifying. What Kate said next surprised him, though he should've seen it coming.

"I'm not Kate. I'm Lucy. She 'borrowed' my body. She said it'd be fun and that I'd like it. I've been a snake for a few days and I'm not sure I'm comfortable being a cold blooded reptile. I miss my body heat." Lucy looked shyer than he'd ever seen on that serpentine face and he knew it was true. She wasn't Kate Coyle, she was her shy wolf lover in her form.

"Seems like we're both fish out of water, huh?" Lauren said. He had to admit he was enjoying it a good deal more than it seemed Lucy was, but he could maybe fix that for her. "Hey, I've got the bracelet. Do you want this body? I could slip into yours for a while. You could tease Kate a bit, maybe even just pretend to be Chris for a while. No one would know other than us. I could play with her if you want. I've got a few tricks of my own, I bet she wouldn't expect an assertive Lucy in her body."

"I don't know," Lucy said.

Lauren nodded. "It's okay, I don't want to force you into anything. I just figured I'd give you an out. Kate will probably hold on to your body for a while, and this change is permanent if you don't switch back with this."

Lucy sighed and held out her hand. "Okay. It's got to be better than this. Not that I don't love my mate's body, I just... like it to be her body."

Lauren slipped the bracelet on the snake and recited the spell. The effect both had become used to by now took effect, and their minds and souls once more switched bodies. Lauren found herself wearing the body of a female snake, and soon Lucy looked back at her from her lover's eyes. "Are you okay?"

"I think so. Being male is weird." He blushed at his thoughts. "It's my first time being male. Maybe I was better off staying in Kate."

"Do you want to switch back?" Lauren offered.

"No, no. I want to try being male for a little while. Maybe it'll let me know what goes through my brother's head. You be Kate for a while. I'll give this form a spin. I've got to try new things now and then, right?" Lucy asked.

Lauren nodded, and Lucy left. The first thing that the zebra learned about the rattlesnake is that her body was always feeling a little bit of physical desire. Always. She wondered how the snake handled it, but then she realized Kate reveled in it. More so than any woman she'd ever known, Kate thrived on her body's ability to take new things. Lauren wondered if perhaps she hadn't been the one to make a mistake. Now she was stuck with this body, and no idea how to sate its appetites.
