I attended RainFurrest just this last September and had a GREAT time. One of the things I did while there was enter the writing competition. Participants were given from Thursday until Saturday evening to write a story with the theme of "adventure". This was the first time I had given a writing competition a shot; and as such I didn't expect to win or place. But I saw it as a great opportunity to just see if I COULD indeed finish something reasonably coherent in such a short time. This story is what resulted in the raw, no editing or clean up). While in the end it wasn't selected, I'm still proud of the result since it was effectively completed in about 6 hours worth of actual work. Enjoy!
