The metal bits are a fun idea Myra had for this transformation. We realized we'd involuntarily started a theme of having Lyn here turning into each of the legendary Chinese creatures; a phoenix, a dragon, and now, a tiger. And metal is the element commonly associated with the Chinese tiger so Myra thought, "Metal reinforcements growing on her as part of her changing form."
And it works! In this image she's about to throw down, so this was a last ditch battle transformation against some unseen enemy.
